I’m thinking that the combination of no masking, sailing in proximity of land and the infernal curiosity of enthusiasts must be giving ulcers to designers and team managers

Nobody escapes the SAAC Inquisition!   :D
Having been one of the designers for something that spawned 'enthusiasts' posting their opinions on a number of forums, the most maddening thing was not being able to tell them what bollocks they were talking, especially when criticising our design on the basis of complete ignorance

@weta27,

small personal request...

Could you take some Portrait pictures from time to time of the AC boats ?

I'm looking for some background pics for my phone, and it's always a pain to get Landscape pics to fit nicely...

Otherwise your pics are great.

Blue Sky,

D.

Maybe they had to stick it on to measure? As per TE measurement issues?

or they decided that the very rounded hull had bugger all going for it with lateral resistance?

does this potentially count in the % allowed for hull adjustment/modification?

either way funny as fuck given the piss taking of Ineos sticking stuff onto the hull of B1

So the bow lifts they depower and splash down with a thump.  Is that what happened?

In my opinion these beasts are definitely safer than the cats.

BTW are those houses in St Heliers or Kohi?

Yes, you can see it in the @airflowmz video.

They start to make a turn to Port (gybe) but seem to be quite high out of the water. For whatever reason, they change their minds and straighten up.

At that point I would say the rudder loses grip and the stern starts to drop, changing the angle of the leeward foil. So you have the foil lifting and the main trying to push the boat up and over the foil.

They dump the main, sit there for a milli-second, praying, and then gravity takes over.

Safer from pitchpoling, for sure.

My favorite recent AC Class was the AC72 but these AC75’s are absolutely stunning. They take the ‘twitchiness’ to a whole new level, you can still see the helms being on the edge through bearaways and hunting for correction but as you say, they don’t pitch. And then the acceleration out of turns is sometimes astonishing.

This is my new favorite AC Class, by a long shot! Absolutely amazing, every boat we’ve seen and somehow they keep getting even better at it.

Have you seen them live? Weta27 will agree seeing them in the flesh is mind boggling.  There is a saying that TV makes you look fatter than you are but with these beasts it makes you look slower.
