After watching LR in light air with the Code Zero, I wondered if they might partially furl it if the wind picked up unexpectedly during a race, or between displacement/foiling modes in marginal winds. If the luff track had a slight bit of greater width towards the centre it would flatten the sail somewhat...

But I suspect this is not really a practical option?

 Not again - LR did the structural design (and evidently got it wrong) and Persico was only responsible for the execution. Is it too difficult to understand?

Splitting hairs mate - in short it was the Italians gig - not ETNZ's until they had to redesign it.

Challenger of Record Luna Rossa is unhappy with a key design component provided by Team New Zealand for the upcoming America's Cup regatta - with skipper and CEO Max Sirena describing the foil cant system as something from a regular car being put into a Formula One car.

"I can tell you the two components are not on the same level - it's like putting in a component which is coming up from a Formula One car together with one from a car you use every day, so it doesn't really match. We are not happy because it doesn't work as we wish."

"It would be a shame if we're going to lose a race because the system doesn't work. We didn't complain in reality as much because we have made it work but I know the others are complaining quite a lot."

It seems a bit quick for Sad Max to whip out excuses doesn’t it?  

Sounds like the Italian poodles are the small, well manicured, type poodles that snaps and nips at a moments notice.  Makes sense.

Right... so Max is having a sook about a one design part yet says we don’t complain “because we have made it work”

so either they are fucking with a OD part and admitting so is plain stupid.

like all the teams they are making the best of it and they all have to get on with it,

just choosing to go on radio and complain publicly contradicts his earlier getting on with it message. 
 

IF an OD part does end up costing a team a race win then yeah that’s bullshit, in contrast to in house designed gear failing I am sure a team and it’s supporters would have to take on the chin.

THutch briefly touched on FCS issues during his recent appearance on TE’s show. He was responding to a question from TE about what we’d seen a day or two earlier, when a crew member on AM was seen inspecting the outboard end of the port, and then the sb wings. THutch said something about ‘leaks’ but didn’t go past that.
