Apparently not. Two grinders per pedestal - one on each side, as I understand it (or not at all).

Maybe a connected transverse arrangement but all the grinders are separated not paired.

Mathews vid shows more detail.

Interesting to compare that take-off video of LR with the similar one of TR. Timing from when they start to bring on the power (sheeting in) they both get up to full flight in similar times - around 17 seconds. However LR looks to be in a tad more breeze, and on bigger foils. So you'd have thought they would have got up a bit quicker.

Rewatching the 2000 LV cup that the AC channel just put up on youtube, am I the only one who misses the IACC nationality reqs? As convenient as it is to hear every skipper talking in English, the different languages onboard back then really made it feel like an international sporting event of nations against nations, not just a scrap for the title of best aussie/kiwi former dinghy olympian.
Were there requirements any different than now? I remember the Kiwi's had an American helmsman and the Japanese a Kiwi. It think now is just a reflection of the world with the Kiwi's having the most talent to export and fewer teams with smaller crews.

Related:  I always had great respect for Paul Cayard who learn Italian to be part of Il Moro and translated for his boss during press conferences.

I wonder what Italian sounds like with an Australian accent?

Good article by Joop Sloof, comparing the main features of the contenders. I read his book about Australia II keel, really interesting.
Nice summary...he could have gone into sail control a bit more where there are some variations...like how those magnets work.

And the following comment : Te Rehutai is probably also the least vulnerable for cavitation and ventilation phenomena because of the the relatively large distance between the foils and the water surface.

is a bit simplified as all foils with their tips in the bottom of the box breach at the same point at a given cant, but flat foils keep more of their out board span further from the surface. As discussed here.
