Francesco "Checco" Bruni  (one of the 2 LR helmsman) about the three ACWS sailing days :

- There are a lot of things to be improved, mostly upwind speed in the upper wind range. They're happy about boat performance in the mid-low wind range.
Sorry to quote myself, just to add that they're happy about boat performance both in the medium and in the low wind range. Just to be clearer about Francesco's interview, he wasn't speaking about the lower part of the medium range here

I think the double helm configuration is really working, I have to disagree with Luca
I don't think so, Zaal. Especially in the start box. Maybe an improvement to the shared helm would be only after starting, with Jimmy helming exclusively in the start box.

On the other hand, if LRPP leave the arrangement as is, that's better for ETNZ, so all's good. ;-)

If anyone is guilty of sandbagging, it's LR. They are very stable, have great maneuvers, sail trim looks great and are as fast or almost as fast as AM while using much bigger foils. I'm sure their final pair of foils will be about the same size as the AM and ETNZ foils. They just didn't want to show them yet.

max strikes me as playing that kind of game pretty hard.

Thanks again for the translations! I wonder if they will shroud the crew like ETNZ.

Regarding the lines they seem maybe centered on the part of the hull with deepest draft. They also seem visible only from off the boat, so maybe a reference for the coaches to look at pitch and ride height?
These lines are for the shore crew to line up the boat with the cradle. You can see that from their crane lifting photos/videos.

Was there something specific that you saw or do you just mean that you forsee it becoming uncoordinated? I was surprised how smooth it seemed so far.

No, buck.My thinking is that in a start box dogfight, the last thing LRPP (or any other boat, for that matter) needs is a change of starter's brain. Comms. are all very well, but how do you communicate instinct in a nano-second? There is no time to talk the options through and share your thinking.

A bit more on this, Buck, if you're interested. LRPP and most of the other starters, got zero engagement/fightback from ETNZ in the start box, the entire regatta, IMO. (I said earlier, they looked bereft of ideas, even when given the port entry advantage. So I doubt whether LRPP's dual helm was put under any pressure - which is maybe why it all looks to be moving smoothly. Then again, what the hell would I know?

I could see that being a strategy from ETNZ. For sure will be interesting to see how it performs come Prada cup time. I'm sure it has been done in the simulator enough to at minimum sanity check the idea, so I think it is going to be successful, and they must have a system for one helm assuming total control when required, it'd be crazy to not entertain the need and practice that.

He learned from the best in the last Cup cycle...
Exactly, he'd be a terrible student to have not learned anything therein. And I'm sure he and Mr. Bertelli will bring their own twists to this too. The picture of LR developed around the time of pulling out of AC35 is that of an organization that isn't naive or ill prepared.

It was some time I was thinking about those red lines.. thank you guys for the info :)

Maybe I was thinking too much about 2003, when LR changed three bows during the LV Cup, that was an awesome work by the shore team. I'm just so curious about mods they're gonna do now!
