This is still the main Luna Rossa thread  in Sailing Anarchy. For the pleasure of our not Italian speaking friends!
Just ran out of likes. Yep this is the main thread of course, just wanted to add something for us Italians and to call new people on the forum, since there aren't a lot of sailing forum about the AC in italian

Ok, so let's have a look to this beauty. Interesting video by NZSP. Are the foils a little bit forward ? It seems to me that they are maybe a little bit smaller, or maybe just with a smaller flap. Interesting close up of the bulbed rudder

Mr. Gianni Cariboni, head of Cariboni Marine Hydraulics Systems briefly talks about his Cup experience.

- Cariboni core business is designing innovative solutions to hydraulic "problems". They design the solutions and sell them to the clients. They build pumps, valves, cylinders, of different types for different boats. They follow the entire process from the design to the sea trials. They have a team currently in Sweden for an important project.

- Their work culture bring them to the top level. In 1993 they won the first commission for a very important project in the USA (edit: I think it's the Wallygator Yatch)

- They entered the AC world with Luna Rossa in 1990. This is their 7th America's Cup. LR had some issues that anyone - except Cariboni - could solve.

- Cariboni is a family business. Gianni started with his wife in a small office, now his son and his daughter works with him, along with many others employees. When they got involved in the Volvo Ocean race, his sons told him jokingly that if they won, he could go in retirement. They won six times, and Gianni is still in charge. After that they won 2 America's Cup. The first with Oracle in 2010 (Dogzilla), than with ETNZ in Bermuda, where all the teams were clients, so they would have won in any case. ETNZ was the team with more Cariboni components.

- In this edition, Cariboni provided 80% of the hydraulics to ETNZ and 100% to LR. Since they're used to work for different competitors at the same time, they split in different work groups, each linked with a different competitors. Compartmentalization is a key factor to assure absolute discretion to the different teams. Gianni is in charge of the work group linked with LR, since they worked for so many years together.

Was one of the key signings for Oracle on the tri .    Have to be the most complete sailor one could meet and a bloody ripper of a bloke .
I got to shake (okay - enthusiastically pump) his hand on the 2017 victory lap back in NZ. IMHO he's the quiet/unsung hero in winning it back.

From that day in Bermuda in 2017 this Dude is essentially 'Kiwi'.  He's earned his stripes and he can hang out here in Aotearoa as long as he likes!

I know Glenn personally he coached a few of us in cats in western Victoria. He’s a bloody ripper bloke , humble and down to earth . There was a hell of a lot of emotion as Glenny held up that cup
