Speaking of sea state, does anyone remember any comments from the team about what it was like to sail on this day back in the last cycle? The old platform held up pretty decently and they obviously would have learned something about technique here.

Held up pretty well? Not long after this sail the front tore off

How to build a stronger boat, possibly? Seems that ETNZ got schooled in a similar manner recently.

"In the meantime, Italian challenger Luna Rossa, which endured a month off the water after losing lost their mast on January 27, suffered another structural failure on March 12. CupExperience reports the boat’s bobstay broke and the seven foot long bowsprit was ripped out, tearing away part of the bow." From SB

The video above was posted Dec 19, 2019, so a good deal earlier. Doesn't seem likely it had much to do with it.

They are certainly sealing those sails on the deck. Decades ago I did some work on windsurfer sails and the seal to the deck was more important than the actual shape in the bottom of the sail.
They are looking better all the time.

Yep. It's a pretty slick operation and a great test platform. LRPP will be formidable for AC37 and this time, they don't have the added distraction of being CoR.

I can believe that. Rake, seal the gap, weight the fin, accelerate away. It was an unmistakable effect.

the sea state is going to make this Cup very interesting and will make sailing skills much more important than if one team just had the "fastest boat"
In my worthless opinion, all the teams would benefit from younger, more reactive helms but none of them seem able to prise the wheel from the rock-stars. Especially BA. Even Burling is the wrong side of 30.

I agree, if you want to win you sometimes you need the wisdom to be able to step back. In more physical sports that moment becomes more obvious.
