Giles wasn’t being uncooperative. They have a three minute mandated window. Justin went over it, and he had to stop.

I think what the bloke from Luna Rossa might be alluding to is some recon teams seem to be much closer than others. Maybe that’s a northern hemisphere thing ;-)

Certainly there have been instances of the Kiwi recon guy referring to the team as “we”, apart from sounding quite a lot like four, it just seems a bit odd.
BS! They can stop, they do not have to stop. They were very rude to the recon interviewer. Many interviews have gone well over 3 minutes and most have been very polite.

My collection was someone off camera was the one directing Giles to wrap it, and he was half smiling. Maybe they had an important debrief to get to. Wasnt a big deal, just funny that it ended up in a video.

It’s bollocks, why did he say that the time is up?

It’s something that Gladwell even acknowledged himself

The actual speaking part of any of the videos when interviewing any of the teams is three minutes

Maybe, but was it really necessary during the interview for Giles to put on that gorilla face look?

To be charitable to Giles and to whoever had the stopwatch and understood that whole situation, maybe there was tension at the time about Ben's imminent landing arrival in Palma for his first stint on the wheel..

Is the interviewee under any obligation to tell the truth? Going forward these interviews could become a wonderful opportunity to provide misinformation or even just muddy the waters a little. There's always skullduggery in the AC!

You just don’t get it. His handler told him he had done his three minutes, but he is not required to stop talking.

This “recon” interview with Nathan is 4:24 minute long…

I thought it was a 3 minute minimum requirement. Its just a really bad look and doesnt edear themselves with the public when its published in its raw entirety. Im sure their PR people wouldnt exactly be high-fiving themselves after that

*edit
I realise that interviews not mandated in the last cycle but with AM damage, TH fronted the media was open and personable and a class act despite a terrible time for himself and the team, but that is probably more about the man than being PR savy.

9 days in the shed and counting? Wonder what changes are afoot. Systems? Hull? Probably not foils if those could be developed concurrent with sailing.

The America’s Cup is changing at a rapid pace. The transition is well underway and the opportunity for young, talented foiling sensations to come through to the apex of the sport has never been greater. All across the syndicates we are seeing new faces emerging, as the teams seek out the Cup superstars of tomorrow. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli have almost certainly found, and are nurturing, two talents that could very well dominate the competition for years to come. Today out on the Bay of Angels in Cagliari we got a glimpse of the future with Ruggero Tita and Marco Gradoni taking sole charge of the Italian LEQ12 and boy did they impress.

Conditions were certainly not ideal. The waves were in, and the wind was in that transition zone where flight has to be worked at to be achieved. Umberto Molineris, a graduate of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli ‘New Generation’ programme himself was onboard as a flight controller and trimmer today and looked more than pleased with what the team accomplished on the water saying: “Actually it was a really good day with a slightly less wind than yesterday but good waves with chop which for sure it's nice to have some conditions which are a bit more tricky to sail so we can get a bit more used to waves.”

^ Great video. Background, personalities, tech, hard work. Looks like exactly the right prep for the big boat.

Yes, another gorgeous production by them.

I wonder if the 'Pirelli' (upside down) piece in the background is a V2 mast? It looks big.
