Jewish space lasers.... AKA "Jewish lightning".... Known to cause the apparently spontaneous combustion of buildings that are behind in mortgage payments, unprofitable, or need more money to repair than they're worth....

These lightning strikes used to only happen in the north east, but now they have apparently spread across the country.

To add to my TL;DR above - If Biden is really serious about his "Healing the soul of America" campaign slogan..... one area to start with would be recognizing that when it comes to addressing racial and economic inequality - it should not be a zero sum game. ...... I even heard a black lady politician on an NPR interview state that she was opposed to Policy or program X because it might help poor white people too.  WTAF?

So Joe - if you really want to heal the soul of the nation..... recognize, acknowledge and do something about ALL the folks who are hurting and struggling out there.  Not just those prized POC constituents.  Remember, many of most of them used to be Dems and switched because you turned your backs on them.

Just saying.
Such bullshit.
Unfortunately the white-grievance soapbox has a big audience. A lot of peckerwoods are convinced that THEY are the real victims here.

Jeff sees it as a zero-sum game so anything given to a person with blackor brown skin must have been taken away from a person with white skin. That right there tells all IMHO.

The working people of this country do have a lot of legitimate grievances. But the ones that switched from Democrat to Republican did so because they couldn't stand sharing with "those people."

Are the Jewish Space Lasers in circumcision orbit?
Technically, they're only supposed to come for 8 d/o boys.... Sometimes earlier. I knew a couple of Jewish brothers who didn't get circumcised until they were 13 y/o.

They were really proud of that, but in a lot of pain, and took a week or so off from school.

I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions.  Who exactly do you want to hold accountable for what, and how specifically do you suggest we do that?  Serious question, because your statement "holding people accountable" is a very broad and vague statement.
Take the 2A for example. It's not even a privilege; it's an entitlement. The NRA jealously defends that entitlement even for felons, domestic abusers, ... Now, holding people accountable means that when they fuck up they get their toys taken away. Entitlement means they don't. See the difference?
Speaking of holding gun owners accountable, are you ever going to explain what point you were trying to make with this false comparison?

It also absolves individuals of the LIABILITY FOR USE by others. So if your roommate steals your keys and bypasses your 'secure gun storage' and uses your gun to holdup a liquor store, you're totally good. But if your roommate steals your keys and runs over a little old lady with your car, well that's what you have liability insurance for.

Since when is redistribution of tax revenue NOT a zero-sum game?
I thought lefties were all about raising taxes?

If you look at it as a matter of percentages, EVERYTHING is a zero-sum game but that requires some math. IMHO the actual topic was benefits, not a dollar amount

Since it takes 2/3 to kick her ass out, this sounds like a great idea.

McConnell adviser says GOP should cut ties with Marjorie Taylor Greene to make her ‘most useless congressperson’

A longtime adviser to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is urging Republicans on Capitol Hill to purge Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from the party so she has no influence in Washington.

Kicking Ms Greene out of the House GOP conference over her right-wing conspiracy theories and past threats against Democratic lawmakers would leave her without any committee assignments, where members typically perform most of their work.

So you agree then - distributing tax money is a zero sum game. And therefore your comments re Jeff are off point, because he was correct. Assuming he accepts your characterisation.

Now arguing that the bias in distribution where some get more and others less is interesting, but let's not pretend that it's anything other than a zero-sum game, given a fixed tax base.

Raising the tax base is another argument entirely but it *still* becomes a zero-sum game, just at a higher total pool amount.

If Republicans are going to 'purge' Greene from the conference, well then, they may as well expel her from the House under the principle of do time, fuck it, do crime. But here's the deal. She's a Critter from Georgia, that there should be enough, which currently has two Communist Senators. Consequently, Republicans are about a hundred times more likely to run Greene for Senate than they are to purge from the conference or expel her from the House. The Republicans will have to run someone against the black guy in 2022. Might as well be that nice white lady who thinks Jewish laser beams from space started the forrest fires in CA. She does seem to be on friendly terms with Shitstain.

When the going gets tough, the nuts get nuttier.

To add to my TL;DR above - If Biden is really serious about his "Healing the soul of America" campaign slogan..... one area to start with would be recognizing that when it comes to addressing racial and economic inequality - it should not be a zero sum game.  The current ethos of racial politics is that in order for the black man to rise, we must tear down the white man and make him less.  Take from the rich and give to the poor.  In theory that sounds great..... but in practice it's taking from the poor whites to give to the poor rich.  And because of that resentments build and build.  Blue collar white America has been absolutely ravaged by globalism and "free trade" and they see the fat cats in DC (R and D alike) as not giving a single fuck.  That's why they are latching onto these extremists who are telling them what they want to hear.  While opioids joblessness and poverty are ripping through that demographic like a wrecking ball, all they see their gov't do is cater to and coddle a small slice of the overall US population.  There is no mindset of "a rising tide floats ALL boats".  I even heard a black lady politician on an NPR interview state that she was opposed to Policy or program X because it might help poor white people too.  WTAF?

I fully agree with that.  That's one of my central points here.  I vehemently believe that all these RW noise purveyors don't believe a word of what they're spouting off and are doing it only because it's easy money.  MGT didn't just come up with the notion that forest fires were set with jewish space lasers..... someone put that stupid idea into her head.  And that someone is laughing all the way to the bank.  In Nazi Germany the USSR - that sort of propaganda was done to control people in order to gain and maintain power.  The new propagandists are doing it to self enrich.  Unfortunately, lately some have realized they can have both power and $$ - so that is why it's ramped up so much lately.

I don't know how to stop it because "FUCK YOU, 1st Amendment".  Unless that changes, the only other way to counter it is to have a better message as well as better policies to address the reasons these people are so angry and lost.

Put is this way..... if you are happy, content and fairly stable in your circumstances - you are somewhat immune to the propaganda.  Or at least less susceptible to it.  The reason so many are gobbling this shit up is because they are anything but content, stable and well off.  They are hanging on the edge of collapse just like their black counterparts are in the inner cities.  So they grasp for whatever person(s) out there who at least pays lip service to their plight.  That's why evil so easily is able to gain a foothold there in those poor white hanging by a thread communities - because no one else it talking to them.  Except for the dems who call them stupid, white privileged,  racist cunts.
Except the people who stormed the Capitol didn't turn out to be the unemployed, opioid-addicted, blue-collar workers.  But rather the small business owners, the lawyers, the government employees, and so on.

The reason she's getting so much attention, is outrage that they didn't do that in the first place.  Ship's already sailed.

Actually, I was trying to be funny. So that's a fail on me.

But no. A government benefit whether a program or a payment does not have to be a zero sum game. They can just as easily just "Okay all left-handed bicycle repair men can now get receive free widgets under the FREE WIDGETS FOR LEFT-HANDED BICYCLE REPAIR MEN initiative!" Then next week they also give free widgets to albino unicycle riders, and unless they go around taking away all the LHBRM's widgets, it's not a zero sum game -even- if they then bar any further LHBRMs from getting them. Things like education? The whole society benefits so how is that "zero sum?"

Aside from that, "... (sic) one area to start with would be recognizing that when it comes to addressing racial and economic inequality - it should not be a zero sum game. ...." is not a wording that I took to refer exclusively to gov't benefit programs. But if I 'm wrong then I apologize.

It is still a big problem that a lot of people SEE the world in terms of zero sum gamesmanship and get all pissed off about anything some other group than theirs is getting. Like holidays honoring black people. Is that really taking something away from the peckerwoods that get all mad about it?

There appears to be some consternation among the few remaining sane Republicans...

The Georgia GOP is tearing itself apart in a civil war. It lost two Senate seats in an ill-fated January run-off election. And the once-Republican suburbs in metro Atlanta — the most populous part of the state — have bolted toward the Democratic side.

Now, it’s contending with another budding public relations catastrophe: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the newly elected congresswoman whose extremist beliefs and promotion of bizarre conspiracy theories have rocketed her to national notoriety.

The calls for censure and her removal from Congress don’t appear to have damaged her standing in her conservative north Georgia district — and may have even strengthened the so-called QAnon Congresswoman there for now. She tweeted Friday that she raised $1.6 million off all the controversy and on Saturday told her 300,000 followers she just had a chat with a supportive Donald Trump — the former president who has referred to her as a “future Republican star.”

This is what a nightmare scenario looks like.

With the party reeling in the wake of its 2020 unraveling — when it lost too many centrist voters — state Republicans now worry Greene will emerge as the face of the GOP, tainting the entire ticket with a stamp of conspiracy theory and extremism in the run-up to the 2022 midterms.

“If you have any common sense, you know she's an anchor on the party. She is weighing us down,” said Gabriel Sterling, a Republican election administrator who became a leading voice criticizing the baseless election conspiracy theories espoused by Trump and his supporters like Greene.

“Some people are saying maybe [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi will throw her out” of Congress, Sterling said, referring to the House speaker. “The Democrats would never throw her out. They want her to be the definition of what a Republican is. They’re gonna give her every opportunity to speak and be heard and look crazy — like what came out Wednesday, the Jewish space laser to start fires. I mean, I don't know how far down the rabbit hole you go.”

{snip}

“Here’s the problem with Marjorie Taylor Greene: you can’t look away. She has great camera presence. She has great TV presence. She’s a natural, a true talent,” Robinson said. “The question is whether she’s a moron who’s a natural talent or is she just a cynical manipulator? I just happen to believe she’s a true moron who happens to be great on camera. But we’ll see.”
