Maybe Storming The Capitol Wasn't Such A Good Idea

UPDATE

"The F.B.I. had as many as eight informants inside the far-right Proud Boys in the months surrounding the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, recent court papers indicate, raising questions about how much federal investigators were able to learn from them about the violent mob attack both before and after it took place".
FBI Had Informants in Proud Boys, Court Papers Suggest - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
Didn't a number (from memory about three) of people within those orgs ring the FBI in the lead up to the Jan 6 but they were never contacted by the FBI? Are these the same "informants" being trotted out here?

Speaking of the FBI, why the hell is Christopher Wray still in charge after the total fuckup that was Kavanaugh's confirmation investigation?

Isn't that going to taint the evidence, in terms of entrapment, etc?
entrapment and civil RICO are things you see on a crime drama, not an actual case. Lawyers like to tell civilians that "It's never entrapment" and "It's never RICO" because successful entrapment defenses are about as rare as successful civil RICO actions, which is to say <1% of the time. Trump's lawyer Yabba Dabba Poo just got sanctioned for forgetting the second of the two foregoing assertions.

The fact that an informant invites you to do a crime does not excuse the crime, unless you can prove that you were a choir boy beforehand with no predisposition to committing crime, violence, etc. before being seduced by the informant. proud boys gonna have a hard time doing that.

Unless acquittal could result in greater punishment than conviction…something like the comparison between going back to producing and selling Deloreans vs playing Jailhouse Clue every morning against Mr. Cranky with a lead pipe in the Bridal Cell. Which punishment is really more cruel and unusual? That was definitely a one in a zillion case.

So, after reading about the sledgehammer video of Russia bludgeoning a "traitor" to death, I don't want to hear a single thing from RWNJ'S about the US treating Jan 6th rioters like a third world country would. These guys are being charged and tried by a jury if their peers, not strapped to some concrete and being beaten to death.

How about we line them up, turn up Ride of the Valkyries really loud, and jab them with flagpoles, throw fire extinguishers at them, womp 'em with hockey sticks and squeeze 'em in doors while squirting with bear spray?

Too harsh?

That's a low bar.
