Far-right extremist Riley Williams sentenced to 3 years in prison for storming Capitol on Jan. 6

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — A far-right extremist who was "obsessed" with white nationalist Nick Fuentes was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison for storming the U.S. Capitol and directing a mob toward the office of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, where another rioter stole a laptop.

In delivering the sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Riley Williams' actions “utterly reprehensible.”

Williams, federal prosecutors argued at trial in November, "led an army" up a set of stairs toward Pelosi's office and was present when rioters swiped the laptop that the California Democrat kept in her conference room and used for “all her Zoom meetings."

Williams’ federal public defender Lori Ulrich said that while Williams might have “distasteful” beliefs, she was a young woman equipped with only a “cell phone and her fuzzy zebra bag” who even posted at one point that she was “STORMING THE WHITE HOUSE” when she was, in fact, in the legislative branch. Williams, her defense argued, “wanted to be somebody.”

I wonder if she would be just as infatuated with the little nazi dickhead if she actually met him... a nice date, maybe. He could try out his theory about how women want a man to beat the shit out of them and see how much she likes it.

House Democrat Declares Jan 6 Rioters Being ‘Coddled’ and Complaints About Their Treatment Are ‘Laughable’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) blasted jailed January 6 rioters ahead of a congressional visit to the D.C. jail where they are being held, headed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (D-GA).

Crockett is one of of two House Democrats who will join the group visit and she explained on Friday’s Morning Joe that her goal was to provide a “counter” to whatever Greene and other Republicans say about what they see.

“We need to make sure someone is there to tell an actual account of what the historical nature of this visit,” she said. Greene has meanwhile referred to those jailed for the Capitol riot as “political prisoners.”

Crockett claimed before her trip that people are “coddling” January 6 rioters, and she pushed back against claims that they are political prisoners or being mistreated in any way, though she reiterated she still needs to witness the conditions for herself.

Crockett said:

They know nothing about what bad conditions are and I’m going to clarify that after I can see with my own two eyes, but in the state of Texas, we don’t even have air conditioning in our prisons and we are once again in the state of Texas so we’ve had inmates die from overheating.
The idea that these folks should engage somehow in a real conversation now that January 6ers, mostly White folk, are saying that these accommodations don’t work for them when Black and Brown folk have been trying to have a real conversation around what prison accommodations should look like if we are just going to be humane is laughable.
So I look forward to this visit and I look forward to reporting out on the accommodations and whether or not they are subpar.
Crockett also mocked a recent recording of the Star Spangled Banner released by the so called “J6 Prison Choir.” The song featured former President Donald Trump.

“We also know that there’s some choir that they have and they’re on iTunes or something,” Crockett said. “These folk are not being treated like the average inmates.”

Greene's DC jail visit pulls GOP closer to Jan. 6 rioters

Taken together, the House Republicans can be seen as working steadily but intently to distort the facts of the deadly riot, which played out for the world to see when Donald Trump's supporters laid siege to the Capitol, and in the process downplay the risk of domestic extremism in the U.S.

One need look no further than these threads to see how the Faithful were duped into believing the attack on January 6 was a peaceful tourist visit.

It seems like a logical progression to me. Should they have started with members of congress and investigated downward?
Well, I really don't believe that on Thursday, someone said "Fuck! I totally forgot to investigate members of Congress! I'm such a putz." However, the way the tweet played it, it sounded like someone had a brainwave while they were sitting on the terlet. A parallel investigation would have made sense, it's probably closer to what actually happened.

They go where their witnesses take them. They are just now getting the court to order Trump’s inner circle, including Meadows, to talk and share their docs. To whom were the congresscoupers talking? Meadows was COS….

That’s all the despair I have time for today. I’ve repeated myself enough.

Yes, totally unarmed! Totally non-violent! I mean except for killing a couple of people and trying to kill more including the Vice President, they were completely filled with love and peace, probably listening to the Grateful Dead while they had their Congressional tour.

Unarmed, except for axes and guns, some pipe bombs, and a big stash of more guns in case The Big Guy authorized the big bugaloo, and some cuff-ties, and hockey sticks.

Oh, and Buffalo Guy's horned hat and spear.

Report: 'QAnon Shaman' released early from prison, moved to halfway house in Phoenix area

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- CBS News has learned that Jacob Chansley, the man known as the “QAnon Shaman” has been transferred to an Arizona halfway house.

CBS News Congressional Correspondent Scott MacFarlane reports that Chansley was moved from federal prison to the Phoenix area with a projected release date of May 25. Chansley had pleaded guilty to obstructing the Electoral College proceedings and was sentenced to 41 months in prison back in November.

“Recent changes have been made regarding First Step Act assessments such that the 28-day assessment will count as the first, and that an inmate will be able to earn 15 days after two assessments rather than three,” a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told the outlet. “These additional time credits were calculated during the last scheduled application rollout in March 2023. therefore, these changes will allow inmates to earn the extra 5 days of time credit for every 30-day period.”

In total, over 950 people were charged over their alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 attack, with 15 having connections to Arizona.

Arizona’s Family is working on learning more. Check back for details.
