Meet the WasteShark: An electric Catamaran

If you see this shark heading toward you with an open mouth, don’t worry – it’s designed to catch plastic and other waste that destroys the water and its inhabitants rather than swimmers. The WasteShark is a mini electric catamaran-shaped robot that eats plastic, debris, and other things that don’t belong there while collecting data on water quality.

This reminded me to take a look at the status of 'The Great Pacific Garbage Patch'.
Seems there is a Garbage Patch in every Ocean now.

Here's a look:

Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a collection of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean. Marine debris is litter that ends up in the ocean, seas, and other large bodies of water.

Great idea but $24k seems a bit steep.

Needs to have an oil skimmer built in, too.
Doesn’t seem bad to me. Boats have gotten so insane price wise. A 20 something foot center console can easily run you well north of $100k these days.

Think how great it would be if they all came with one these standard, to follow and clean up after 'em.
