Is that a Pynchon/Gravity's Rainbow reference? I love rocket limericks!
If you will swear on a stack of whatever you consider holy that you read Gravity's Rainbow from cover to cover then I will give you extreme respect.

I suppose you read Ulysses by Joyce too?

Read it three or four times, at least.  First time through was difficult, as I don't think "WTF?" had been invented yet.  Also read V., Crying of Lot 49, and Vineland.  Tried to read GR again during the lockdown, but the book's binding was falling apart after some 45 years.

Never wanted to read Ulysses.  I noticed that if one weren't taking a class studying it but still reading it, one was likely to be pretentious.  And I'm aware of the connection between the two but think that's an oversimplification.  Yeah, yeah, something, something, stream of consciousness.  There's also the influence of Burroughs, Carroll, Heller, Kafka...  Did read Finnegan's Wake, though, which IIRC, has a small subplot in GR.

But this is a meme thread.  Every post and response should have a meme attached, amirite?

I read a lot and have been all of my life.  I have tried Pynchon and Joyce but could never get too far into them.  I rarely read books more than once.  There are too many other books out there to read.  Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea and Richard McKenna's The Sand Pebbles are two exceptions.  I've read both of them at least 5 or 6 times.

I hadn't realized posting a meme was mandatory here, I just thought the usual thread drift rules applied especially with the Intellectual Discourse Exemption.  But I am a get along kind of fellow so I shall post a meme that involves 2 things besides reading that are dear to me.  Women and wine. (Even if the meme bottle is a mere Sauvignon Blanc and not a good Bordeaux.)

The first time you play a vinyl disk you lose all the highs - somewhere above 12KHz.

Those missing high frequencies are what the snobs call "warm sound".

The whole concept of a sharp gem riding on soft plastic being able to reproduce sound better than a digital signal is patently absurd.
As an aside.....  In  the 80s a good friend would buy vinyl, lots of vinyl, play it once (virgin) then record it on a then very good cassette with nicer equipment.  Then the vinyl got stored to be never touched again unless a replacement became needed.

I have a couple boxes (100 or so) of albums I bought from a radio station guy in OB Whey The FUCK ago

they are all stamped "MASTER NOT TO BE SOLD" or something close but MASTER for sure

he said they were not used at the station, he had taken home the extra copies

other than thicker I have No idea the difference in material or quality ????

I got a MP3 converting turntable to digitize my collection

But kan't be Arsed to get to doing it

now you can get Live copies off YouTube, so why bother ??
