If we saw 25 knots, it was only for a second or two all day. Numbers are fine, sailed at targets all day, even spent a bunch of time doing 2-way calibrations and circles in the river. It just ain't a fast boat - though certainly fast enough to be tied for first against some good sailors. I think Robbie Haines is sailing the Soozal.

It was nice to see the Santa Cruz just tearing along behind us, but they always ran out of room before going back upwind, when they didn't have a chance. Soozal was much, much closer in speed. Upwind maybe a hair higher, same speed. Offwind about the same as us at medium effort on the waves. When big Rob was pumping the main hard on the big waves and Brian was working the sheet we gained a bit on the King and were noticeably faster than the J.

So "Q" got redress for the premiere race photo boat collision in race 3 yesterday...

Does anyone know of they were able to make repairs overnight? are they out there on the race course today?

There was someone hard at work on her at the dock last night. I'm waiting for someone from a photo boat to call me back to see if she's racing today.

Photos will be posted tonight. All the world should be viewing imagesbymarco.com We got up close and personal but did not get in anybodys way. There will be no photos tomorrow as the driver has to take the day off to go do some sailing of his own on a J/24 but look for more photos on Sunday. This is so fun because as a competitor you get to see what is going wrong before it happens. It is great to train people that they must anticipate.

The TP52s are all right on top of each other too, with the Russians having a great third race. Anema & Core blew their first chute up before the first start, then destroyed their second in the third race and went home. That's an expensive day!
And we watched a Melges 32 gybe in the pre-start and lose the gooseneck. That was a fun repair with 2 minutes til the gun.
Enema blew two chutes? Awww, poor poor boys and their toys. God, one would think with all those paid slaves on board that you could get that piece of crap around the race course. What were they thinking?? As for the Melges kiddies, can't believe there wasn't more carnage....lotsa training wheels on those guys out there.

This thread is really quiet for a major regatta with mostly out-of-towners racing.

No reports?? Somebody down there has to be able to give something up.............

And for day's we have been promised photos!! WTF?

Photos at imagesbymarco.com

SA only hired us to photo for the first two days. Unfortunately the driver of the photo boat needed to race his slow 4kt J/24 today, and the boat we borrowed is needed by Shake-A-Leg Miami for their Sunday sailing since many of there powerboats are out of commission. I would like to thank Flat Earth Racing for the use of their powerboat so that we were able to take the shots on Thursday and Friday.
