Not sure if this is truly mockable - the guy knows it's a liability. When was the last Fraser 42 molded? Mid 1980's I'd guess.

Free New hull never seen the water. Hull only. Must be moved before Jan 30. If this ad is still up it is available. Only serious inquiries. Thanks

Fraser Yachts. Hmmm... Did they make the boats that are all moored/sunk in a river by the same name?

I post this one if only for the listed "never been sunk" attribute

Well, the fact that it's sitting miles from any water deep enough to float in, AND has a new bilge pump (hmmm) is probably why it hasn't ever been sunk.

I'd be careful though, it's right on the edge of the Marine Corps' bombing range.

Same boat Sam Holmes has. His was just a little nicer, though the frame and solar panels restricted movement in the cockpit a little.

Not on Craigslist, but I walked by this boat in the water at Port Townsend this weekend and looked at the brokerage listing - I never in a million years would have guessed that this started out as a Van de Stadt design. That hard dodger certainly never came off their board...
If the listing is to be believed, it's at least 13,000lbs overweight (on a target displacement per VdS of 15,500, and looking at the waterline vs where it's supposed to be on the plans I think I believe it. It is a great example of crap on the back (and everywhere) - it's like he tried to cram everything you'd put on an 80' yacht into 38' of length. 5 watertight bulkheads (with watertight doors!) to guarantee that you can't move around the boat? Two wind generators, a 70hp main engine and a diesel generator, two hydraulic powered generators off the main engine, a bow thruster, a weird aluminum seat (or maybe 3) that seems to move around the boat in the brokerage photos, the list goes on. An interior that's just black foam between the frames, but still tons of exposed metal so you have tons of condensation and heat transfer regardless.
It's like somebody took every idea they ever heard of and put them all on one boat, with no thought to how they would all interact (and what it would do to the weight of the damn thing!)

They're asking $225,000 for what was clearly somebody's dream, but it isn't selling... At that price they should at least have cleaned up the cosmetics on the brokerage listing - cleaned the mildew off the decks, put on new nonskid pads, etc...

I saw that one a while back, a truly impressive level of wtf.

Always a good sign when a boat has spent half its life in repairs / refits.

The owner reports that the vessel has undergone major repairs / refits during the following periods:

2008 - 2010
2014 - 2017
2021 - 2022
I also liked the water jets in the keel for underwater excavation/getting unstuck after running around. Now that's a feature you don't get from Beneteau!

Did Doug's brother build that boat?
