Sad, or depressed? Given the example of the keel, I would not trust the workmanship of any of the rest of it.

A shame, because it seems like it is a nice design and potentially a great little boat. But certainly not "worth" $65k ... is it possible the builder spent that much on it, and didn't get to the point of electrical/mechanical fit-out mush less mast/sails/rigging?

My first thought on that "keel" was the same as SteamFlyer's, and that the boat would never have any hope of sailing well upwind. But then I looked at the designer's drawings and saw that this was just the bottom and that there is a foil section between it and the hull (notice the length of the keel bolts). So, I guess there is some hope - after a lot of fairing as noted.

Judging that it's sitting in a van, I'm guessing the keel is vertical laminated wood with a lead (or Silly Putty) shoe on the bottom bolted on.

Reading the list includes a 60' racing catamaran First thought was whether Captain Don has given up. Then saw picture and Stars and Stripes is printed on the cross beam. Wonder what the story is on that. Get a big tent, bimini, a small rig and away you go.
