I don't know. As 85% projects go, it's more attractive than most. Of course, you would need not just an exhaustive survey, but a estimate from a real boatbuilder as to whether it's maybe actually a 50% boat.

it's a lot better looking, better dessigned and better built than Seeker

Asking prices have made it all the way down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. Some are up to 4X what they were 2 years ago.

That's significantly more than we paid for our full sized cruising boat, holy moly

Saw this on an ad for a Catalina 36.
Looks to me that the mainsheet block and the bitter end of the mainsheet should be reversed.
Bitter end should be at a becket on the lower main block then forward to a single block at the forward bail then down to a change of direction back to the cockpit?

Yup. I don't think that's quite right. The block looks weird for a Catalina and it looks like it's a different line (blue) to the deck on the stbd side.

Pic stolen off the internet of a sistership of mine (387, not 36):

Bitter end attached on deck, stbd side. You can see the like from the port side turning block going back to the line clutches.

It's a pity to see all that work go to nothing but the reality is that it'll cost at least $50K to finish that hull and then a rig & sails is probably going to run another $150K on top of that.

The current owner is dreaming.

He's beyond dreaming. He's delusional. He is probably looking at all the time and money he has put into it, and fails to understand that particularly with a home-built boat, until you have a complete boat with a successful record, you effectively have less than nothing.

You can't expect someone else to buy into your dreams, especially at a price like that.

Agreed. It's a shame the builder did not choose a smaller boat that he could have completed for the amount of time & effort & money he's put into this one.

This. That issue weighed heavily on my mind the entire time I was building my boat. Now it's finished, equipped and sailing it's worth maybe 50% of the build cost. Such is life...

Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned burying hulls as an option for creating underground shelters. Perhaps this would be a good candidate, especially as the owner seems to be willing to pay so much for someone to take it off their hands. (Oh, that's the asking price? ... Never mind.)
