I really don’t have a clue … unless PP was in some altered state, sleep, booze , sleep meds.
The perp must have made a racket breaking the safety glass window. PP was on the phone with 911 and sounded like he was on top of the situation, in his own way of alerting the police and not angering the perp , that awareness along with the 8 minutes PP and the perp were together before the LEO arrived.
It is what it is, but I would certainly thought it normal and expected to bolt 5’ into the safety zone
