Are there any statistics about those many hammer attacks you mention which indicate the frequency with which they were used against political leaders or their families? If not, it seems like somebody might be trying to spread a bit of bullshit around here. There was an initial report by a media outlet that both were in their undies - and was quickly corrected. That didn't stop many from continuing to imply (including some, currently) that there was "more to the story".
