Anybody out there done this trip?

Any recommendations on outfitters, time of year, things we should avoid?

Takes a while to actually get to the Kilmanjaro thing but you might want to know about the meat!

Both my boys did it

Pretty tough hike. hunger was their main discomfort -the guides just made porridge.

Will ask them for tips

I suggest an ultra-lite SOF boat, something easily used as a hat perhaps. And perhaps those "just add water" instant paddles. Not really sure the water on the way down will be much fun, but whence you get down it should be a blast!
