It would only be speculation, but I seriously doubt the failure of jackscrew.

Hoping they can recover data from the orange box. 
If the jack or the linkages to the jack or the control surface didn't fail, could the plane have had such a steep dive angle?

OK, I know that there has been incredible advances in DNA testing.  and I don't believe for a moment that there are any survivors to the accident.   I find it very hard to believe that they have been able to positively ID all 132 victims through DNA testing.

The 'pickle forks' are what hold the wings to the fuselage of the plane.  That had nothing to do with the recent crash.  

In 2019 a Chinese airline was converting Boeing 737 NG aircraft from passenger to cargo use, cracks were discovered in the pickle forks of several planes.  This led to an investigation and about 5% of various models of the 737 airplanes had developed cracks on the pickle forks after extensive use.  Boeing set up a repair program to correct the problem.

Wow.  Who, and why?
Either they're setting up the pilot to be an emotionally-deranged individual so they can divert attention away from the missile or bomb that brought it down, or else the pilot was an emotionally-deranged individual that wanted to bring some passengers with him as he shuffled off this mortal coil ... or maybe it was choreographed by Gorilla Air, the new airline that has planes piloted exclusively by Gorillas, who are known to be sufficiently emotionally stable that they will neither fly their planes into the sides of mountains, crash somewhere north of Diego Fucking Garcia, or pile-drive an airline into the ground.

Personally, I wouldn't put anything past those fucking gorillas, and I believe that as non-humans, their increased competition with homo sapiens makes them enemies that we should strongly consider as becoming potentially dominant, with more than enough access, ability and desire to crash as many airjets filled with humans in order to lead more business, both humans and gorillas to their 100% gorilla-piloted planes with industry leading on-time and safety records, plus first checked bag free, free WiFi and some of the most competitive rates in the industry for the heavily-travelled Fort Worth to Research Triangle corridor.

The narrative in the news is that this pilot was emotionally disturbed and crashed the plane deliberately.

As you might have noticed from my exchange with Monkey, I brought up the issue of the elevator's ball screw a month ago or so after the plane crashed. Just because I don't really have the time to explain it to Monkey, I'm happy to leave the interpretation to you if you like.

I think it's reasonable to suggest that we may not necessarily get the highest quality investigation from Chinese crash site investigators if some larger issue of Chinese and American Economic Agreements are at play. It doesn't mean I don't believe their report, just that maybe if the evidence didn't present a clear cause one way or the other, that they might have fewer problems reporting the crash of a deranged pilot than some other more inconvenient problem. I would trust this study much more if some kind of U.N. auditors were allowed on-site as soon as the crash occurred so they could gather their own data to the known and established standards of the U.S. Transportation Safety Board and FAA. I'm not saying their better than other countries, but the volume of travel we have the in the USA and our safety records are strong indicators of the FAA and NTSB's efficacy with this kind of work.

I was once at Midway Field and the airport SHUT DOWN because a luggage hauler brushed against a plane on the runway. The entire airport was down for two hours until they figure out what happened, get the data unmolested get everything put away and open the airport up again. The NTSB and FAA don't fuck around with this kind of thing, and they haven't since Dwight Motherfucking Eisenhower sat their monkey asses down like Monkey needs to sit his fucking ass down and learn something from some people who have forgotten a good bit more than he has ever known on this subject.
