Mystery winch...

A Jenneau 27 has found it's way next to me for haulout...I just noticed these very odd looking winches.

I've never seen anything like them. Anyone recognize them?

We use a variation of that as a pole lift.

It's a Setamar winch. The company went out of business a few years ago. Practical Sailor reviewed it in 2000, which is the only reason I know anything about it.

Looks more like a captive line drive rather than a winch. Like you would use for a furler etc.

They are the main winches on this boat...

German made Setamar, as said above long longer in business. They had a neat idea, just never caught on. My friend has a pair as halyard winches, sort of odd to load and unload.

I had a pair of those when I bought my boat. First upgrade I made was replacing them.
