New Beneteau First 36

I just happen to have the latest NOR open for this coming year:
OSR CATEGORY CATEGORY 2
STIX minimum 32
AVS minimum 130-0.002*m
SSS minimum 28
I know this one, I was referring to the First 36 numbers. I was specifically questioning if it can meet the AVS requirement, but if the SFs entered with a value of 109, might indeed be ok

EDIT:
I found it further down, can answer that myself:
bip.jpg

130-(0.005*4850)=105, so yes

Perhaps I am old fashioned, but having the engine cooling outflow where you can easily see and hear it is not something I would give up for aesthetics.
As to forced air heat, the weight penalty is minimal and the benefit in our area is large. You certainly do not need nearly as many outlets in the interior as shown in that diagram. Somebody is trying to sell lots of conduit and vents

The problem with most cruiser/racers is cockpit ergonomics. I see all assholes and elbows when short-tacking and during mark roundings. And when the main trimmer has to pull someone off the weather rail and use words to trim traveler/cunningham/outhaul/vang/backstay instead just reaching down and adjusting a little fine tune, it makes for a chattery cockpit filled with miscommunication. At my advanced age I want need a more ergonomic cockpit.
I realize this is an old post, but the optional seat/storage units are shown in the rendering when they are meant to be removed for racing.

Does this really fill any kind of niche in the market? What box does this tick that a J99 or J111, or a 3300 or 3600 doesn't?
Maybe more comparable to a J112E in terms of accommodation, but definitely lighter and less expensive. Plus no retractable sprit to hassle with.

You’re confusing two rudders with two wheels.
My Jeanneau SO469 had two wheels and an absolutely huge rudder almost as deep as the keel. Was the steering feel as good as I would like? No. But the convenience of passing through to the stern was fantastic. That rudder was amazing...once in the groove the wheel barely needed to be touched.

Hi Kristian

Have seascape and beneteau parted company? You talk about a divorce? Are there going to be new seascapes? I remember being in your offices outside Ljubljana looking at some of the prep work for this boat back in 2018. All the plans for what you saw as the competition were on the walls.

Good luck with what you do next.
I think a First 45 is next based on the latest vids out there.

Do we have any results on IRC for this boat yet. First boat did an OCR event in the Med somewhere, I think, during the summer, and didn't perform that well. Why did Beneteau /Seascape not race her later?.

Per OSR 3.04, if it is Category A hull, then the numbers don't matter and it is compliant. The Fastnet wording seems a little confusing. They refer to 3.04.2 which has the values, but the first line of 3.04.2 says if compliance with 3.04.1 cannot be demonstrated, then use the values. 3.04.1 is the Category A compliance, which all of the boats in questions have, therefore are compliant with OSR Cat 2. Yes?

Owners are present on this forum, but simple answer is ... Beneteau or Seascape does not own the boat, so they cannot race her at their convenience.
We were discussing with another owner to do Middle Sea Race last year, but at the end owner had other plans and the MSR was not that high on priority list, so we rather passed the opportunity to do a half assed race (especially as we all know the MSR can be a real tough cookie is you are unlucky with weather...)

I take that as a yes. Especially the last sentence.

I did not find any press release or ad-hoc statement that hints to the restructuring of Seascape ownership, which was -per the 2018 press release- ' in scope' (of financial reporting, I believe).

Yes, your brand is no longer listed among the Beneteau brands like Delphia or now Starfisher, so 'technically', it is somewhat visible if you look for it.

But I think this is more than just a marketing or production issue. It goes way deeper to questions of liquidity, final liability and risk management.

Don't get me wrong, you will have success with this boat. It is a good design. It won't beat a JPK 10.80 under IRC, for sure, but it will be much more fun and comfy.

And better looking.

Still, the circumstances under which you put this project together should raise an eyebrow with anyone who has a quarter of a million USD (mas / menos) to invest.
Not sure that "invest" should be associated with boat buying. Save that for assets that have the chance to increase in value.

Surprised this doesn't have a separate shower for cruising which doubles as a wet-locker for racing... it is a 36' boat with only 2 cabins...

Ps. Y'all should mock up the steering access/rear locker to make sure everything is actually accessible! My First 36.7 is a fucking nightmare to access anything back there. The space is literally about 6" narrower than my shoulder width, so I have to worm my way through everything with one arm up and one down, and worm back out to swap arms, and alternate between worming down the locker feet first for some things and head first for others.
Reminds me of the stern locker my Webasto was mounted in on my Jeanneau 469. So much fun servicing that thing.
