So Beneteau filmed its own review and the guy liked the boat? Weird. Not saying anything bad about the boat but of course, this was positive.
Phil is an old friend of ours as we sailed minis together and kept in contact throughout the years. We arranged a boat for him to do SR as he is way better sailor than any of us and his feedback on system, trim and sail shapes are very valuable. And if you at least barely know him, you can be very sure he would not spare you if the boat is a dog.
And of course we told him in very direct terms that this is an owner's boat so "don't fuck it up", which he took to his heart and choose longer route under higher bridge, costing him valuable places and forcing him to play catch-up for the whole race.
I like the story because it tells about some young guys who sailed minitransat almost 20 years ago and grew in this time from enthusiastic sailors to respectable men in their field of work. Sam is currently working with Alinghi on hull design and will have 4 imocas on next Vendee Globe, Phil started building his own IMOCA in december (one of the mentioned 4 Sam's designs) and we at Seascape built a bit more than 1.300 boats designed by Sam in the last 15 years. And it is still a lot of fun having beer together and discuss sailing boats together.

Owners are present on this forum, but simple answer is ... Beneteau or Seascape does not own the boat, so they cannot race her at their convenience.
We were discussing with another owner to do Middle Sea Race last year, but at the end owner had other plans and the MSR was not that high on priority list, so we rather passed the opportunity to do a half assed race (especially as we all know the MSR can be a real tough cookie is you are unlucky with weather...)
Are we saying that no B36 has raced then in the last half year. Surely that is very unusual. Everyone is waiting to see how these boats perform on IRC and ORC and if they are performing well, more owners will buy them. Surely a large organisation like Beneteau would ensure that one was being raced to shows its potential.

Such a cool boat. I actually think it is a good thing that the boats are going to owners who are club racing and cruising and just getting on with enjoying their new toy.
Having a works boat can be a double edged sword. I think the Jeanneau 3600 sales were hurt here in NZ by the stock boat going to a race crew on charter. But on the other side, BITD I raced the dealer trade in 36.7 with a good club crew and I'm sure it helped sell the boat quicker.
Kristian - how many delivered and how many on order? I suspect the numbers will prove that people appreciate the new direction. Keep up the good work.

Nothing strange about the exhaust riser - that's a standard Yanmar set up, it gives the mix point more elevation above the waterline and allows a closer position of the water lift unit

Those cast "high rise" risers are problematic. Carbon buildup will close down the exhaust aperture. Risers often need replacement every couple of years. Loss of engine power is a good identifier.

Would guess the lower image, in above post, with the raw water inlet directly behind the heat exchanger, and exhaust angled down at a shallow angle is for installations when the motor is well above the waterline. No exhaust "loop". Or, exhaust has a flapper valve at the transom.

@jhc yes it looks like on many forums, that these have a bad history of nasty inside corrosion.

Probably this need a standard replacement after X working hours or X years. I will ask directly Yanmar for their suggestion, if not stated clearly in the 3YM30 engine's manual.

well sure. and isn't that just the way (sea water cooled) marine diesels operate? I replaced mine with a stainless casting - although not sure if mixing metals like this a good idea.
