============================Fuck the Australian Sportboat Association-IF they don't have a category for all of Australia that would cover inshore sportboats like Mirabaud.
OK Doug I'll humour you:

Assuming that Mirabaud is a sportsboat, which sportsboats do you know of that would have similar performance and thus provide good racing?

The question really is: Who would want to race against it (apart from a skiff or a catamaran)?

Wow, that was a fantastic performance by a 28 footer in the Bol D Or......beating all but one of the Decision 35 cats (including Alinghi) and finishing in 10 hours 43 minutes.

Of course, it wasn't the 28 foot foiler that did so well; the foiler was over five hours behind. The brilliant performance came from a 28 foot Ventilo M2 one design cat. It looks like a dozen or more of them beat the 28' foiler home. Also in the frame were a few Toucans (5 feet longer but designed 40 years ago and capable of racing across the Atlantic) that beat the foiler, and the Thompson 830 sportsboat that dragged lead around but was just 12 seconds astern of the foiler after 15 hours.

Gotta love those Euro lake races and all the cool boats like the Schmidts, Toucans, Assos, multis and Liberas.

PS if Mirabaud did beat the 18s, would it prove much? We all know that the current 18s are not as fast as they could be because (like so often before) they are watching the dollars. And since the skiff designers know that a 22-24 footer would be faster than an 18 footer, putting a 28 footer into the mix will prove nothing since the longer boat must be faster, all else being equal. Any victory by a 28 over a restricted 18 is irrelevant.

Just realise this is a one off tube machine designed for 5 knots of winds on swiss lake with no waves... end of story... not a revolution, not going to rewrite the 18 rules, not going to do anything exept sail in swiss in 5 knots of wind on a flat lake... good on him for trying something a little different, but thats about it... a little different
So take the challenge DL, if the "old" foiling skiff gets smashed in France in 2 weeks time by normal 18s in all conditions with legal wings... will you go away... and as SimonN put it so perfectly S.T.F.U. Doug?

I would still like to know why hes not taking the new tube machine, oh ye I forgot its not desinged for "real" sailing conditions

So 2 weeks and counting...

Put your money where your mouth is Dougy... or admit in 2 weeks you are full of....... That apology to SimonN will be great reading ;) Cant wait
well 5knts on Swiss lakes, still beaten
Bol'dor on Sat, Lake Leman (Geneva) Switz, 123km track, 69yr history

ljf67 think we did better than that with the 'tube' challenge, he should 'pay' your wager

in class the truss boat got beaten by a li'l 7mtr sportsboat 'Matee' , an nice italian thingy called a flying-star , NZ origins in design, not an OPEN flyer but restricted class OD

A 'REAL' sea-hugger, 380kg not including crew

a GER Thompson T-boat was next 6 mins behind her after 123kms

a regular old alpine-based 18 beat the other old 'foil' 18

go to classe LX-TCFX

goodonyerdoug, man up and do the honourable thing

.

cannae shame a short ish SB, wonder how it will go against 'real' 18's, lol lol

Lake Geneva! I'll try to get pics! Cow Cow Boogie sailing at it's best! Cheese, brats, fat people and good sailors from Illonois. The only good sailors in Wisconsin are the ones that live in Illonois!

Doug,

Why do you post the same thing about Mirabaud LX in both Dinghy and Sportboat Anarchy? Bipolar?

Great result for a largely untried boat!! Not quite the demolition you were predicting though is it Doug?

----------------------------Dems da brakes........
A brake is a device for slowing or stopping the motion of a machine or vehicle, or alternatively a device to restrain it from starting to move again. The kinetic energy lost by the moving part is usually translated to heat by friction. Alternatively, in regenerative braking, much of the energy is recovered and stored in a flywheel, capacitor or turned into alternating current by an alternator, then rectified and stored in a battery for later use. From Wikipedia.

Actually might be a better choice than the more conventional, "Dems da breaks. . . . ."

I say we go one better. All 24,700ish members of Sailing Anarchy should each start their own thread about foiling. Little Dougie's head would probably explode as he attempts to work 'round the clock to defile each and every one of them with his lies, errors, and assorted photos of other people's efforts.
