Got released on Netflix here in Oz today.any idea when this gets released in New Zealand?
nice testament to the builder that the rig stayed up and she surfaced with a nicely trimmed storm sail still intact. It was not a 360 roll but more like a 100 foot submarine dive and surfaceGot released on Netflix here in Oz today.
If you want to watch a story of a young girl sailing solo RTW in dungarees, bikini top and nice woollen jumpers with hair that looks like she just came out of a salon and incredibly unrealistic storm sailing scenes, including a 80ft wave breaking on top of the boat and sending it apparently 15feet underwater upside down then righting itself and popping out of the water bow first like a cork into relatively calm seas then go for it.
It was at that point where I couldn't contain my laughter any more about how bad it was that I turned it off.
Last time my boat was underwater the weather was just as bad as before when I came back up. I decided the money I paid for the submarine kit was a waste.Got released on Netflix here in Oz today.

Agreed. I did decide to watch the last 10 minutes and yes the best footage was the real stuff.I agree with Alaris, not a high budget film, but nice story. Really could have used more expert advising on the sailing scenes. Or they got cut out upon editing. The best part for sailing was during the ending credits were real footage from Jessica Watson’s voyage was shown.
All excellent points for singlehanders. They covered a number of key issues (that I had covered in my book):
1. The collision with a freighter, and the reasons behind it. What I refer to as the 3am effect.
2. That being becalmed is more stressful than being in a storm.
3. That loneliness is a massive factor in singlehanding. I wrote a whole chapter on The Mental Challenges. including crying.
4. What it's like being tossed around the boat by heavy weather, and the necessity to wear a harness.
She should have borrowed the ‘Womper’ from that nice young couple who won the America’s cup a few years back.Got released on Netflix here in Oz today.

The story of Australia 2 is great. If you are an American you can play it backwards so it has a good ending. The movie was a bit cheesy, but in all honesty, I enjoyed it. It wasn’t even close to the worst sailing movies.
Jessica responded to that scene - and others in the movie -quite straightforwardly in an interview. The roll did happen and 6 other knockdowns as well. She was very clear that it actually lasted a much shorter time than shown in the movie - just seconds - but said that the duration in the movie was what it felt like at the time.Got released on Netflix here in Oz today.
