New YC In Charleston

One of my neighbors, a retired teacher who grew up in rural North Carolina and lived/worked in New York for most of his life... and is black... said there are big differences between racism in the North and racism in the South.

We've had several long conversations on the topic, only after I've known him for years and both socialized and worked on volunteer projects together. His summation: "In the North, white people don't care how rich or successful black people are, as long as they don't move into their neighborhood. In the South, white people don't care how close black people are, they can even be room-mates in a mobile home; as long as there is never any hint that the black people are richer or more successful."

I know the bylaws of both clubs. My understanding is that even ChYC had the same policy until a few years ago, and that's one of the most welcoming clubs I know, but I have never seen the docs proving it.

Let's not go around pretending that a big chunk of southerners doesn't want things to be more like 1823 than 2023, even in Charleston. Let's remember: This bullshit peddler is Charleston's rep.

Mr. Moderator AKA Mr. Clean, Serious Question...I know you have Power to reject comments on this board so I am treading lightly. I just wonder, why is it that you have such a problem with Southerner's?

He seems pretty equal opportunity in his disdain. For instance I’m sure He dislikes plenty of northerners who treat women or minorities as lesser to (white) men just as much as he dislikes the southerners who do the same

There's been some local discussion down here regarding how interesting it is that Clean can so easily slam a venue he spent years making money off of and garnering great press for SA w/all the "On the water Anarchy" coverage across multiple events. All was great....back then....

It's hypocritical that he doesn't like some clubs' admissions policies that exclude single women members? Is he excluding women at some other club? What is hypocritical?
One of the particular clubs Clean has an issue with is also one that holds a really cool kiteboarding/anything that foils, one way drag race event. Clean covered that event a few times bringing lots of hits to SA when he had a more vested interest in this site. So, it was ok to hang out there then but now it's the dog crap on the bottom of his shoe he can't scrape off, (as are apparently ALL southerners as well?). There's the hypocrisy.

That doesn't sound like hypocrisy. That sounds like media covering an event. A lot of people don't like the admissions policies of the NYYC but yet the media still covers their events too. Hypocrisy would be Clean trying to join the club.
