That doesn't sound like hypocrisy. That sounds like media covering an event. A lot of people don't like the admissions policies of the NYYC but yet the media still covers their events too. Hypocrisy would be Clean trying to join the club.
Pretty sure he filled out/submitted an application, but not 100%...

One of the particular clubs Clean has an issue with is also one that holds a really cool kiteboarding/anything that foils, one way drag race event. Clean covered that event a few times bringing lots of hits to SA when he had a more vested interest in this site.
Why are you scared to use the actual names of things?

1) Fort2Battery, founded by Tim Fitzgerald at JIYC who also was the driving force behind much of the increased youth participation in Charleston over the past 5 years.
2) The rest of your facts are completely incorrect.
3) Call Tim Fitz and ask him what my role was in his event, if you give a shit. Ask him what he thinks of JIYC's policy too, while you're at it.
4) Or be a sucker and a mark, listening to rich jerkoffs butthurt by the truth of their stupid fucking redneck bylaws.
5) Unless you support unmarried women being denied equal membership in a yacht club. Do you?

Wait until you hear the names they give to NY Jews!
Turns out that Charleston has quite a large jewish community and more jews at the local clubs than in many more 'northern' venues. The head of medical safety for CRW is jewish and a board member at JIYC (or was, it has been a couple years since I've been down). He saved that guy's life in the middle of a race a few years ago.

True. Those were some scary radio transmissions.

Who hears of NEW YC's popping up these days? Charleston has one. The Daniel Island Yacht Club. Complete with new and very nicely appointed full service Clubhouse, dock, moorings, a launch to get you to/from the mooring, a SWEET 35-40ish foot Sabre Trawler for RC work and general, "spectating" platform for members, Club Director, Sailing Director, a fleet of 420's and Open Bic's. Looks like their first event is going to be the Shields Nationals the week before Charleston Race Week. Apparently, someone decided they needed a YC and got it going from the ground up with private funds. Pretty cool.
Shields Nationals in Charleston sounds like a good time. Might actually be able to race this one as it's so close to school!

Might have to talk to the crew about a #Dragonfly35 campaign.

Well, there's people who insult people, point fingers, complain, walk away and do nothing. Then there's some who stay in the fight and actively work for change. Some members in these clubs have been actively working on it for years. It'll happen and it'll take time, but (as one likeminded friend/member told me) "if you're not here you can't help." So, do the easy thing, take your ball and go home or do the hard thing and keep trying to push the rope uphill? Me and others will keep pushing the rope.

was scarier to stream it in real time, and impressive to watch how well planned and executed was the rescue.
I was on that circle in a different fleet. Steve's intense planning really came through. Not sure what other events were doing at the time, but I felt like CRW was ahead of the times with the on the water emergency plan.

Most major events have similar emergency plans, helped out quite a bit by US Sailing's safety programs. Few have a chance to really put them into effect. There was a lot of luck at play that day, but also professional planning and execution.
