Sir, To answer your question. I don't like racists either. However, You and a number of posters to this thread paint ALL Southerners with a very large brush. Stereotyping people just because they were born in the South seems very judgmental. Maybe if you took the time to get to know Southerners, you might find that we are not so bad after all. In fact you may find that Southern Ladies and Gentlemen are quite accepting of ALL people no matter where they come from.I think you missed my point. We do love the south, but not the racists. Do you love the racists there? Most non-racists don't like the racist ones. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe you have lots of racist friends that you love. I have no idea. But, no, we don't like the racists there. Period. Being intolerant of racism isn't any kind of "holier than thou" position, it's one of decency. Again, perhaps you are more tolerant of racism than I am because you aren't "holier than thou". No idea.
Naw....I never Lost it.Now you’re getting it.

But there are a lot more northern transplants there than in much of the rest of the south.
One thing you have to give Chucktown sailing: it's thriving. One of the most active areas in the country. I sail in lots of locales, and I would say most are hanging in there and lots are hanging by one nail and soon to evaporate. In my state, not a single new club has started in the 40 years I've been active and plenty have become jet ski basins if not outright closed. Cheers Chucktown!
I mean, wouldn't it be more effective if you said:People love the North. Just not the racists who live there.
He's still learning the nuance of this forum.I mean, wouldn't it be more effective if you said:
People love the North. Just not the Cosmopolitans who live there.
Why I'm excited to take delivery of my new boat in Charleston. Here in the Bay Area, the sailing community looks pitiful, long in the tooth, in retraction, going, going going......as stale as can be. The very thought of a new yacht club forming here is the stuff of fantasy, as every yacht club on the Bay appears to be in steady, irreversible decline. The wind still blows, but the sailing scene has grown anemic, IMO.One thing you have to give Chucktown sailing: it's thriving. One of the most active areas in the country. Rude, you thinks it's decaying in Bay area, you need to see some here in Texas. Sad. Several cities doing well: Austin and Seabrook. The rest, no so much. Why I'm excited to take delivery of my new boat in Charleston. As to discussion about race: Racism is an unfortunate characteristic of every human community on the planet. It isn't geographic and it isn't biological. "Race" is a purely social construct and anti-scientific; "race" is a concept or idea- one might call it a common human psychological disorder that unfortunately can be observed in every single community on earth. It can be eradicated only through education and enlightenment. Love for all humankind.....is the answer.
Should mention College of Charleston is a national sailing power too.
A lot of truth to this. Racism is a global issue. My understanding in Northern states like Massachusetts and New Hampshire is loaded with it.Why all the hate of the South? I was born in South Carolina and grew up here. I hate the fact that we Southerners get stereotyped. I think once you took the time to get to know us we are not as racists as you think. So why don't you come down from your Holier-than-thou high horse and stop judging people? FYI-Two of my best friends are from a different culture. One is Black the other Filipino. Another FYI--If you want to hear the "N" word go listen to Rap Music.
