Nothing especially remarkable about them but they both came up.

I then searched for Captain Tom Rogers USN.

Two came up but neither served in submarines or was prior enlisted.

It's like he never existed.

I certainly can’t say it’s not true, but in every book I’ve ever read involving Rickover, his anti-nuke stance was only that it had no business as a land based power plant.

There is a SSBN/SSGN submarine base there so it would seem an improbable location to falsely claim to be a served submarine CO but the guy is a ghost.
