The good ole nighty night tailpipe or a charcoal grill with white coals in a closed room
That's the only objection I've ever had to the DP - certainty.I also think it should be on of those punishments that should be reserved for times when there is undisputed proof of guilt.
Or in jail, there are horror stories of corrupt police hiding or planting evidence. That's the only objection I've ever had to the DP - certainty.
I can't imagine anything worse than being sentenced to death when you know you are innocent.
One way I would approve of is a third verdict for capital cases - Guilty to an absolute certainty.
Reasonable doubt has been demonstrated to be insufficient for an irreversible decision.
I think this statement is in need of an all encompassing/thorough definition of 'innocent'I've long been opposed to the death penalty as a matter of principle.
I also acknowledge I would be first in line to throw the switch if you killed someone I love.
But, that is vengeance, not justice.
Too many examples of innocent people having been executed.
By "too many", I mean it is a "non-zero number".
so?But, that is vengeance, not justice.
Exactly. We made up all these terms like "justice."
That's a short step toward street-corner justice. You sure you want to go that route?
Does it really matter if I am guilty of a lesser crime, if we are go to use that argument for the death penalty? That's pretty much what an LA prosecutor said when she quit - that the people who got caught up in the criminal justice system were rarely, if ever, what regular people would call "innocent".
They were sometimes not guilty of the particular crime in question but they were seldom or never "innocent".
In all honesty, if I had to be executed, it’s not a method I’d object to. Having been “narced” a few times while diving, it’s a delightful, albeit extremely dangerous situation. I’m not a fan of capital punishment, but will concede this idea is far more civil than shit like the electric chair.Yes, medically known as nitrogen narcosis.
if some is convicted, sure. That's a short step toward street-corner justice. You sure you want to go that route?
Are you confident all these convictions will be flawless, and 100% above question?if some is convicted, sure.
There are many times when there is absolute certainty. When they find a head in your fridge for example. My stance is you need to be 100% certain. Virtually impossible. Being 99.9% certain is not enough.
No doubt there are examples of 100% certainty. There are many times when there is absolute certainty. When they find a head in your fridge for example.
Our own Clifford Olson for example - took them to his victims bodies.
Also our Willie Picton - his meat grinder had the DNA of many women in it.
Bundy and his elk - no question whatsoever and no reason whatsoever for them to continue to use up oxygen.
If I was on such a jury, one thing I would virtually ignore is eyewitness testimony. I'd guess that many if not most wrongful convictions have been based on just that and it has been proven to be extremely unreliable..
Not to mention police who are sure they know the guilty party and 'arrange' the evidence to suit. There are many times when there is absolute certainty. When they find a head in your fridge for example.
