Non-skid repair

The non-skid on my Andrews 28 is much too slippery. I have 2 ways to repair it: non-skid paint vs self adhesive non-skid product (eg SeaDek). Total Tread is a new non-skid paint made by Total Boat and offered through Jamestown Distributors. They tell me that it can be applied directly over my current, ineffective, molded in dimpled non-skid surface.  The SeaDek like material that is available will also apply directly over my current non-skid. Assuming costs, labor, etc. are all similar, I am considering applying the Total Tread.  If it works as advertised, I'm done.  If it doesn't, I can always apply the SeaDek style material over it. The advantage I see in this scenario is that I can freshen up the Total Tread every few years by simply applying a fresh coat.  If the SeaDek type material wears, I understand that it's a bitch to remove. Your thoughts?

I just did a bunch of touchup areas on my deck with Interdeck. Mixed i grey with 2 white to get it paler - I don't like Battleship grey in any circumstances, not even on Battleships.

So far I'm very happy with it - goes on easy, the colour is what I wanted, grips well, fine enough aggregate so knees won't wear through or bleed...

Time will tell how it wears and cleans.

I would honesty go for a 2 pack product / awlgrip / alexseal / pefection or some other brand and mix in the non skid particles yourself. I've seen people apply it over existing non skid mouldings with good results.

Jon mentioned Interdeck which is an option, but I suspect you (and maybe him) will be disappointed with its longevity, I've had 3 boats previously done with it & invariably it starts to look tatty very quickly. I do sail in some muddy water which doesn't help as it seems to stain it eventually.
However it is quick & easy and does look good for a while.

I’ve used Jamestown’s TotalTread on two boats and have been happy with it.  It’s grippy enough, easy to apply and relatively inexpensive.
It might not last as long as two-part systems but it’s so much easier to apply and cheaper that I’m hooked.
FWIW, Jamestown’s Wet Edge paint comes in same colors.  Good stuff, too.

I have used Interdeck and it was easy to apply and offered good grip, although the surface remains relatively smooth since the particles are rather small (It is a fine powder actually). However, one thing to keep in mind when considering Interdeck is that it is very difficult to remove since the particles seem to be the same that are used for sandpaper.

For the above reason I would rather go with a different solution like Awlgrip Griptex particles sprinkled onto fresh paint. I have yet to try it myself, though.

Then there is KiwiGrip, but it seems like people either swear by it or absolutely hate it, so it seems like a risky option. At least the outer conditions seem to have a huge influence on the final outcome.

Getting ready to do this to my boat also.  The smooth and nonskid parts have to be painted.  Does anyone have an idea of what life could be expected of the one part vs two part urethanes?  White colors in NE Florida, year round exposure.  I am old and don't need it to last forever!  I am doing the work solo and at the dock so the one part paints would be a lot easier to work with.

The single part will probably start to look worn within 2-3 years, depending on boat use. After 5 it will look pretty sorry for itself.
That's been my experience at least & in much more temperate conditions.

Thanks! How long would 2 part be expected to start looking worn for comparison?
