Just wanted to share we have 2 skippers from USA this year aiming for the Mini Transat!

Peter is back after getting all his qualifying miles out of the way last go round and has already secured his spot. Tough competition out there with 151 applicants for 90 boat spaces! He's got all the usual social media, but recommend his After Action blogs for detailed race notes here: https://www.pgnoceanracing.com/

Another new US entry is Ambre - actually my old colleague at the "9 to 5" she left to go sail the world! She's trying to do it all in a season, but is aiming at the Proto fleet to have a better shot. She's got her hands on Hull 138, so aiming for checking the box vs podium. More on her campaign here: https://www.ambresails.com/

Both could still use help getting the word out and funding to make it happen, if anyone has any leads for them!

I have a NA that is working on plans for a scow bow foiling mini. I'm in New England and will be building it in my own workshop an hour from the Hudson River or 3ish hours from the Atlantic. Towards the end of April I will be driving to southern Florida and could extend my trip if anyone wants to talk Minis or boatbuilding along the way.

I could do it but there isn't much to document. I’m about to take the first line drawing and paste to a balsa block and carve it. Right now I’m looking for any free advice I can get.

Once I get a little further down the line and find out how helpful this conversation goes….

Super interesting. I don't know how much you're allowed to say, but if it's okay, what kind of foil configuration is he planning to use?

No idea, they asked if I wanted foils and I couldn't see why not. This is a pretty seat of the pants idea that only makes sense to me. I'm interested in the materials and making of the boat. The mini seems like a great opportunity to experiment with design and building.
