Wet coast.
Somebody has something on Taibbi. Maybe he stuck his pickle somewhere he shouldn't or has gambling debts, or got peed on by a Russian hooker on video. What he is doing makes no sense at all.

Sounds like a bad case of RWNJ. We might need conversion therapy.

Mr. Free Speech Musk has said nothing about Twitter being shut down in parts of India. I used to believe the crap about the internet being immune to censorship. In any case, I accept that Musk is a classical liberal in spite of his faults.

A recent trend among insurance companies has left many electric vehicle owners concerned, as insurers are increasingly declaring entire EVs as total losses due to the high costs of replacing their battery packs.
Owners of older EV models with aging battery packs are particularly vulnerable to this problem, as the cost of battery replacement can easily exceed the market value of the car itself. This has led to a growing number of electric vehicles being declared total losses and subsequently being taken off the road.
While some automakers like Ford Motor Co (F.N) and General Motors Co (GM.N) said they have made battery packs easier to repair, Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has taken the opposite tack with its Texas-built Model Y, whose new structural battery pack has been described by experts as having "zero repairability."

Its getting so farcical that a recent Tesla owner posted of contacting 12 insurance companies, none of whom would insure his 3yr old Tesla.
Go Elon, you green energy pinup boy you.

I meant classical liberal, as in favor of minimal government and free trade. That Americans use the word "liberal" as a pejorative is their own problem.
And in that sense, liberalism is a distinctly conservative ideology. Words are hard.

I'm not sure if it's the case in other countries, but in the US the insurers I work with are more skittish than I've ever seen them. The bond market must be wrecking their exposure profiles.

Agreed. Certainly the storms in Florida fucked over the marine insurance industry...

That strikes me more as "libertarian".
Classical liberalism was an Enlightenment response to the authority of kings and churches, a good thing. But labeling oneself a classical liberal today (literally, this is a thing) is kind of like going to a Renaissance Fair and playing dress up because we don't have kings and churches running the show anymore (although the (classically liberal) right wing would like to use the govmint to let the church run the show; I digress).

You would think listening to modern 'classical liberals' that Rousseau and Locke never mentioned the social contract, that we don't get rights for giving protection and that instead it was all about private property and markets. Indeed modern 'classical liberalism' (conveniently) ignores the problems of today just as Original Intent (conveniently) ignores the problems of today.

Libertarianism, well that's just a pose for conservatives which is ironic because conservatism itself is just a pose for fascists. Hi Tom!
