If free speech at a private company is not an issue, why all the bed wetting over Musk buying Twitter.

The only person wetting their bed about this would be you.
Congratulations, you have found the bed wetter and it is you.

No, I'm ecstatic that Musk bought Twitter. He overspent on a money losing social media platform dependent on advertising.

Seriously, go through the threads. We were gleefully trying to understand how he was going to be forced into going through with his impulsive Tweet offer. But in the end, it turned out that the Delaware Chancery Court didn't have much of a sense of humor and your boy paid the money.

Now he's busy pissing off advertisers like Apple who can deplatform him on their iOS with their own free speech. Fuckin' awesome.

Did I mention I drive an S? I feel like I should have mentioned this at some point.

Really? This is one of those times where you tell everybody what "The Left" is thinking/doing/saying; usually this is followed shortly by accusing others of being part of "The Left."

This little bit of inherent stupidity... telling other people what they're thinking... is only made worse by your sense of entitled victimhood over it all.

Do you think that Twitter is a better FREE SPEECH platform now that RWNJs can use it to scream NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER!! for pages and pages, and people whom Musk sees as either representing "The Left" or supporting Ukraine are banned?

Some people were troubled at the prospect of so much unmoderated hate speech and misinformation.

But now progressives are realizing that it is good for the long game. You guys will spread misinformation about voting and stop each other from voting. You guys will spread misinformation about health and vaccines and kill yourselves off. You guys will give a platform to Holocaust deniers, fascists and racists, and generally show who you really are.

Sounds like you agree that how companies handle free speech is a legitimate issue.

This is exactly why I stopped arguing with Trumpers about the vaccine. "If he lives, he lives, if he dies, he dies". Shrug. Let Darwin sort them out.

A little personal history about the beginnings of Tesla.

In early October 2002 I was driving my rather 'breathed-on' silver Audi TT, license plate ROQUETT, at high speed along Alameda de las Pulgas here in Palo Alto. I was passed by another TT, license plate ROCKITT. I gave him heaps of lights and he pulled over. It was Martin Eberhard, whom I'd met in his WYSE days. We agreed to have lunch soon at Bucks in Woodside, a famous eatery. Jamis MacNiven, the owner of Bucks, took the photo below. Martin to the left, me to the right.

We very soon got stuck into automotive talk. I was heavily into cleantech at the time, and suggested that Audi build an electric TT. Martin dismissed this, quite rightly, as the TT was far too porky and heavy. It must be carbon, he said. We discussed powertrains for a bit, and then decided that the limiting factors would be batteries, electronics and the motor.

Anyway it was a fine long lunch, and we've had several more in the last 20 years.

I got a call a few months later from Martin, who said "You'll never guess what we're up to!" Sure enough, Tesla Motors.

I helped them with some of the squirrel cage motor design, and some early marketing concepts. I drove both pre-prototypes, the yellow and blue ones. We once came to the lights on Sand Hill Road next to a brand new Porsche 4S, and just destroyed him up the hill. It was like a rocket strapped to your buns.

Elon? Elon who?

End of story.

Couldn't be those bots Musk once cited as a justification for trying to back out of the deal, could it?

Of course not. Just like the middle-school popularity contest "poll" he used to justify reactivating the account of the defeated ex-President. I can't imagine anyone would question the validity of that count.
