Looks like a massive 18 footer
Why doesn't IRC let us sail small versions of this and be a little bit competitive?

It is so messed up that only the bigger (45'+) racing boats get to be modern speedsters, while the boats more people can afford have to be piggish cruiser racers with D/L ratios over 150. It's not right.

Compelling to sail, under 40', competitive under the world's dominate rating rule. It doesn't seem so un-reasonable to me.

IRC may rule these types of boats out, shame really, but,if the demand is there to sail and race these go ahead.Only takes a boat or two on the water and if they are that much fun(Isuspect they would be)others will follow.

Just because IRC exists it doesnt meen you have to sail under its rules.

For sure. That's my feelings, and that's what I do. I think there is a growing sentiment that people want to have fun relatively affordable high performance boats. I think ( and hope) you'll see an increase in the 30 foot performance boat range. The boats are out there, just need some people to go for it.

I had a play around wth concave sides in one of my designs (see render) and got shot down when i put it up on the forums. Guess i was heading in the right direction <_< .

Well, I don't know about you blokes, but this stern shape looks rather familiar. Oh yes, there we are. Hugh Welbourn's 52' Hi-Fi Team Pryde from last year...

there are 3 really pissed off naval arch students who are in the middle of tank testing a very similar hull and stern design for a 40 foot boat. they really though they had come up with an original idea for big boats.

Uh, wow?

Welcome to the 1970s NZ dinghy racing scene

Give me a stern like the TNZ TP52 over this any day unless you can keep it really flat.

New? Fuck off.

Scroll down to full pelt, 2004, and I doubt it was a new concept even then.

That was built for an owner who said, fuck the rule, I want to go fast and I don’t want to pay to an army of goons to sit on the side.

As for the aspiring NAs, you should probably do a bit more reading up lads, before you piss away any more time and money in the tank.
