is certainly only a regional deal, not national. And even Haarstick offered some "membrane" sails at the end. But this loft was one -- is one -- of the last of the old fashioned, driven by the vision of one guy true sailmakers going. Not sure who this leaves: Maybe Elliott/Pattison (but this http://sailinganarchy.com/classifieds/show-ad/?id=1686in the classifieds), maybe the Pineapple guys out west. I'm sure there are lots of pure cruiser sails lofts out there.

Sad to see this part of our sport go away. Haarstick made some good sails that generated some good race results.

Calvert makes great F-boat sails. Some are made overseas to his specs but you get the shapes he has worked on for years.

There are still a bunch. Headline shouldn't be one of the last independent sailmakers bows out but one of the last renegade maniac sailmakers bows out. He will be missed.

Z Sails in Stamford CT has helped us win a lot of silver. We've also done well with Schurr. There are lots of local sailmakers you haven't heard of because you're not where they are. Perhaps you should get out more.

Hathaway, Reiser & Raymond in Stamford, CT is New England's oldest sail loft. Best custom riggers you will find bar none.
