Anyone notice Oracle went jibless for a bit vs SBTJ today? Looked quick!

Edit: May have been against BAR.  Really hard to tell in Slingby's Insta live shot.

The pic of BAR & OTUSA in that article shows both without jibs, powered up downwind.
No it doesn't.

They are both heading away from camera, and have jibs up.

As ORACLE TEAM USA reduces its crew rotation, the core group is getting more time on the boat, leading to improved maneuvers.

"We're narrowing in on our race crew now, but I think we still have improvements we can make on our crew work," he said.

"In some ways, I think our boat is a bit similar to the last campaign. It's probably a little bit more difficult to sail, but maybe it has more potential. But by race time, we'll be able to do everything."
     etc, as above  https://oracle-team-usa.americascup.com/en/news/307_Profitable-first-day-of-practice-racing.html

I thought there was supposed to be a maximum of 1 degrees difference in rake between teams-lot more than that between Artemis and Oracle......
Nope. They are allowed three degrees of movement for each rudder* - independent of the other teams. :D

Not only that but they can move the starting point for the three degree range day by day. So on one day the range might be 0-3°, on another 2-5°.

So they said anyway.....

* in the rake axis

Found it in post 168 in the WING thread:

1. Forestay tension shall be between 3.2t and 3.4t and wing rake shall be between 4

degrees and 5 degrees, per Drawing ACC-W-1001 REVC. There is no other specified

-----------------------------------

Much greater difference than this visible in the video above between Artemis and Oracle........(post 4924 above)

Bora and the other guy discussed varying rakes in that SButt piece, been wondering too about it given that rule.
