I may be traumatized by an Olson 30 nationals in Santa Cruz. We had the worst round down I've ever experienced, took forever getting back up and sorted, and went from 4th to 1st because everyone else had crashed even harder.Div C - I would predict the opposite. Heavy boats that can't plane for a light year and Olsons if it is a windy year.
No ORR or are DH boats still eligible for the overall without one?We are now 9 sec/mi faster.
must be all those helium balloons!Hey Roleur. I'll be on the Sydney 38 from South Puget Sound. ORR is new to me. Our boat became 240 lbs lighter from its last certificate AFTER we added an extra battery, significant electronics, autopilot, and heater. Who knew we were adding lightness!
We're really looking forward to the race. Our new spinnakers finally arrived...
Looking forward to meeting you as well. Good luck in the DH division!!!

Can't say about this years, but when we weighed, we were told it was a calibrated scale. Of course, then we got ORR measured so they measured freeboard and line drawings. The differences between the 2 were minimal, once I corrected an error made by the office on transposing a couple numbers (yeah, I'm not sure what's wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'd notice a 4,000 pound difference in weights) - Of course, before figuring that part out I had a heart attack as the boats calculated stability measurement wouldn't qualify to cross the marina, let alone an ocean...Not sure what PAC Cup qualifies as a certified weight method but those Travel Lift scales are all over the place. Unless calibrated regulary, they are not an accurate form by any means.
One thing not accounted for when weighing by TravelLift is the angle of the dangle. The worst case is a narrow beamed boat in a wide lift at maximum lift height. Best case is a wide beamed boat in a narrow lift at the lowest lift height, just clear of the water at low tide. This is because the designer’s goal is cable tension not boat weight. Not sure what PAC Cup qualifies as a certified weight method but those Travel Lift scales are all over the place.
