Almost half way across and they have found another area of light wind. This Pac Cup everyone is earning their miles.

Azure has opened up a bit more on Duende, some 5 hours and 21 mins projected. The lead J-125's are in a tight battle, ratings be damned. Could they finish in sight of each other? Limitless has closed up on Spindrift with a potential finish between the two well under two hours. The Moore 24 foamy still sits in 3rd. Kudos to Sa's @Roleur leading their division. 24 hour runs are not that great and the course is still full of pot holes with no real improvement as the race progresses.
I am not anonymous I have never hidden who I am it would take 2 minutes. I know some poeple on the other boats as do you but no not personal. I did talk to them about it after Transpac. That statement was part of a larger post about another boat but this is a class wide problem I see your point so fixed it

Perplexity was doing pretty well with the other two Express 37s, but did 12 hours of going the wrong way for a medical emergency. I’m glad they did the safe thing and it sounds like Kirt (who I’ve sailed with a bit) is quickly getting back to the mainland for medical care.

Hope eveyone is ok. Would be curious to find out what they did. Just thinking what we would do?? Do you use some of the coagulant powder up the nose? We had a medical emergency on the last Transpac so always curious how different things are dealt with. Things looked to get a bit itneresting last night as they hit the light patch or ridge of some sort. Pye seems to have worked to stay in pressure (quite a few jibes for them) and seems to have a way out, Ruffless sailed a horrible angle for 2-3 hours which has now normalized, while Hammer jibed on a great angle and got South of both and Hamachi seems far enough north they sort of missed the wind wobble but they are pretty far North. Will be another intersting 24 hours I think there will be some working South / South East to stay South but not tooo far so still in the presure.
Any word on why Peligroso keeps disappearing entirely from the website and tracker, only to show up again on a later sched? One minute it's like they're not in the race, and then the show up again. I would have thought that it would show their last ping if they didn't receive an updated one, but the whole boat is missing from the entry list and everything.

i can tell you that peligroso is racing in the vic-maui race, not the pacific cup.
but, reading the reports on the vic-maui site, it appears there were problems with both peligroso and phoenix's trackers. it was transposing their locations. the site says the issue has been remedied.

South is not a big payoff anymore. A lot of hard work ahead for the south boats and a lot of gybing ahead for the middle road boats to stay with pressure and direction. Hurricane Darby well south of the course looks to weaken rapidly on approach to the islands. The J125 scene is the most interesting to watch right now (IMHO).

Let me tell you about PacCup 2000. On the other hand, I'd rather not. Still blocking that one!
Seriously though. It is not too common and is very much a function of the train of low pressure activity to the north.

Was drifting in the SHTP that year as well..... definitely not blocked out. Pt Reyes or Half Moon Bay was your choice for the first 24hr.

Thanks for pointing that out @solosailor. I meant to mention that they have maybe ten hours on the J-125's but still need another 8 or so by my reckoning!

Can live with the slatting at the start as have in transpac, just have a mental challenge with it happening so many times down the track

is he really that anonymous though..I'm sure we could find out where he lives... but the 125 ratings are a pretty big delta. I looked around and couldn't find any ever below a 1.2 but I guess if they only carry a J3, have the original "short" pole and come in at 10,000 pounds it would make sense, but what do I know...
nothing as sad as coming up on watch the next morning and still seeing the Farallons. If I remember right, the tail end boat-a wetsnail 32, ended up sailing through the eye of the hurricane that just missed Hawaii that year
