I warned him about moving to Spokane. Now he is going crazy sitting around the house ripping apart requiems.

Come on Paul HTFU. Buy yourself an ATV. Get a shotgun. Get a cool camo hat. Get a real dog. Crikey! You need to assimilate.

Had to go to PT on business today so dropped by the boat on the way back. Note the clamps to keep the sheer stable when rolling. Also note the lift will be on the forms not the hull. The basket lift is to attach the chain hoist. The boxes are to set the beams while attaching the wheels.

Black, had to laugh when opening the boat guts to get to the engine. We removed the cabinetry and the electric panels to open the space below the center cockpit to make a clear path for the engine removal. We were wondering where to make the cut and how large to make the hole in the deck when lo and behold we fond the patch Palmer Johnson made last time they replaced the engine. We cut along the line they made, yanked out the old, cleaned up the box, fabbed up new SS beds, popped the new iron in and closed it all up and put the bits and pieces back in place. Toledo Beach Marina completed the finish work, fairing and painting, impossible to tell there was a hole in the deck.

Every old boat should come with one of these:

No problem getting engine axcess with a worm drive skill saw.

My boat had the engine put in prior to the decking being built over it. It now sucks to work on the motor. As much as I hate it, perhaps the thing wouldn't be so terrible if they'd been forced to put the motor in afterwards. They'd have thought about things like getting to the block zincs etc....

I once had a friend ask me what's it like to work on a boat.

I said that getting to some parts is akin to opening up a Russian nested doll in such a way that you have to get it all back together again when you are done, except that all the halves are glued together, and screwed and doweled and perfectly finished.

Kimb, will you be there when they roll it over or will you wait for the news that all went well?

Gonna be one pretty boat!
Depends on timing, got to work to pay for this project and I work in Bellevue which is east side of Puget Sound and Port Hadlock is west side.....

Hobs:

You missed the part where Kim rides his bike from the marina to Bellevue.
True some of the time, but I often whimp out and take the car I keep in the marina that I commute to in the commuterboat.

We call it the marina car and it rarely comes to the island. (Jetta TDI sportswagon.)

Is that a bit like our "black stump" Unc?

Paul, you need a break. Why don't you come up on the ferry and sleep on our really uncomfortable guest couch/foldout bed and we can go sailing on my plastic fantastic in whatever weather arrives?

Bring your own harness. :)
Nice offer Ish, he obviously is in need a "mood" adjustment, even if you are from Northern Mexico!

Paps:

Washington State, the Evergreen State, is divided north and south my the Cascade Mountain range. West of the Cascades it is lush, green, beautiful and very rainy. East of the Cascades it's not. It's dry, almost desert like, hot in the summer and bitter cold in the winter. Spokane is on the eastern edge of Washington. Actually it can be quite beautiful but just in a different way. I know the area pretty well. My old band used to play there all the time. It's a long way from any salt water but there is a huge lake nearbye with some big boats on it.
