Pettit Vivid

I'm looking at a boat which has Pettit VIvid White on its bottom.  In fresh water, how often should I reapply and what is the reapplication process?

at our lake, the boats that had this, didn't go fast enough for the ablative to be truly effective ...  the dry sailed boats the paint seemed to chalk up a little bit and a light powerwash took care of that..   but for a lake , you really don't need a anti-fouling paint.

When we bought our boat it had Pettit Vivid, in blue, on its bottom.  Reapplication required some sanding first.  

As far as how often, if you apply the initial coat using a different color than the other coats, you'll always know when to reapply.
