That looks wonderful, what YC?
Long Beach Yacht Club

Pretty good club although since we’re selling the boat we’ll have to evaluate whether it’s worth it. Great pool and dining/bar with a splendid view still in play and we enjoy all that…….we’ll see. We’re not into the social aspect, never been to an opening day and don’t own a blue blazer🤣. The reciprocal’s while cursing up and down the coast and the facilities were our use.

Whereas here in the 'Winterless North' of New Zealand I don't think we've had 2 consecutive sunny days.
November, officially the end of spring, exceeded the average rainfall by a factor of 5. We exceeded the monthly average on 2 separate days alone.

And it hasn't fkn stopped. 20 days in January with some rain

We are officially "over it".......:(:(:(:(

Is the boat on the market?

Taste more like rabbit, but dark a somewhat gammy, braising or using it in stir fry would be my preferred fair, but I'm sure there are many favorite backwoods, tarheel and mountain recipes and stews, where it could be used.

Flighty creatures those doves, their fluttery flight pattern has been a challenge, for those who like to bring in such fare. - I have friends and acquaintances who live for doing so, and two in particular who make regular trips to Argentina for their exceptional Dove shooting and hunting destinations. We have Mourning Dove who'd come in when we put out ground seed for the birds - a practice we stopped several years ago, because all the rodents, Squirells, Chipmunks and Hawks became a nuisance. We still have a lot of Dove around us, and they're surprisingly good sized - bigger then the California Quail.

Some of the best Dove hunting in Argentina

Don’t necessarily need to go to Argentina

And yes I’ve shot in Argentina before

The 'winterless' part is certainly a bit of hyperbole, but doesn't get cold, as in real cold.

Plus had some great weather prior to Xmas. Maybe you aren't far enough North...

You can just come to Poland and shoot them off of our pool fence. The noisy bastards wake me up at 4:30 a.m. with their cooing, and don't shut up until the evening. The cuckoos are pretty noisy too but I don't know if they're worth eating. Probably better to just stuff them in clocks.

Like I said, I have two friends who live for going on Dove shoots, including to Argentina, because they like the degree of difficulty shooting the dipping, diving, dodging, ascending and descending flighty bird.

We have Mourning Dove locally, including the two I pictured on the ground in my back yard attracted by the seed we used to put out.

I have no desire to hunt or shoot Dove, no matter how much fun my friends say it is shooting the Dove.

Dove around here fly quickly, making sudden dips, ascents, and dodges. You can see Mourning Doves nearly anywhere around here except the deep woods.

I prefer the challenge of hummingbirds and shoot them with a camera. Hummingbirds are by far the most difficult creature to capture with photography, of any and all creatures I've photographed.

Certainly wouldn't want to be owning a water tanker business this summer.
In the western US, private contractors with water tenders make a bundle at large fires. Not a bad gig. They don’t do any firefighting just shuttle water. Hire a couple of people to drive it, they get fed and sleep in fire camp and get paid an unbelievable hourly rate. I know some who only work in the summer. I remember one woman who had her tender custom painted and emblazoned with the logo “Water Lady”. She spent the whole season going from fire to fire and lived off the proceeds over the winter. Nice lady too……a little salty but…..you’d expect that. 😆

We tend to not have fires like you guys do. Some of them would cover most of where I live, ocean to ocean.

We do have some dry summers though and no town water supply, all tanks. We have a single 25,000 litre tank, but just the two of us. Couple of summers ago we had last rain end of Nov, next one end of March. Lasted just, but was certainly down to the dregs. Everyones family turn up for summer holidays and they have no concept that water is a valuable resource.

So this is usually a busy the for tankers. Unfortunately for them, this summer has been wet, very wet. So no business for them this year.

We were giggling about that just a couple of days ago.

Beautiful day today though but if this new one does come ashore it's going to be nasty
We seem to be protected from most winds, up to a point. High enough to have good drainage, so not to worried. Had heavy rain a few years ago, creek running through the property went from 20cm deep to 3 metres and 8 wide.
