Every time I see a J24 pic like this it makes me smile and warms the cockles of this old, cold, bitter heart; knowing that one more of these miserable, over-rated painboxes has left its mortal coil, never to be seen again.

You'd think by now people would know to keep those boats closed up when under sail.

Hell, I've never sailed one and I knew that a couple of decades ago.

Dang! I only crewed on one about a dozen times when they were relatively recent but thought it was a pretty fun boat.

I was in that race! Rough leg to Great Isaac light. I was sailing a One Ton we built Blind Melon, I held high and didn’t compensate for the Gulfstream thinking that the wind would
shift easterly which did and we were on of the few that didn’t have the beat to get around Isaac’s

That photo made me think of a J-29 that was very successful in the VI named BROKEN DRUM. Underneath the name was the inscription
