did you ever try the poli strip?? just wondering how the fuck they say this removes the old poli glow. doesn;t even put a dent in it.....spray, scrub,scrub, rinse....same. Even full strength....and that bottle of poli strip costs 3 times the cost of a gal. of floor stripper
Yes, I tried poli strip. Virtually useless. I use the floor stripper at recommended dilution in a spray bottle. Let sit for 30 seconds, scrub off with a 3M green pad, rinse well and repeat. It still takes a while, Poli Glow is tough stuff.
I spent a lot of time researching Poli Glow and associated products, and pretty much figured out which stuff they were relabeling by reading the MSDS's. There are a lot of folks in the trailer world who use it, so they have a lot more research time into it...that's where the Zep recommendation came from.

Recent boat purchase which has been on the hard for a few and has the Glo-product. Many applications over the years by previous owner, always re-applied but previous coats not stripped. A few days, a few bottles of poly prep and strip, 3M pads and way to much time on a ladder and still remnants of the stuff. Committed to re-applying as I'm in a 100 spot on two bottles of the Glo...leaving anything behind will expose itself through the new glo...
I've seen several recommendations on the floor wax striper, ammonia as an ingredient seems to be the elixir that breaks down the acrylic in the Poly-Glo...?

I dealt with similar on my old boat. The floor stripper was the key - used a garden sprayer and worked in sections. I also found that once the floor stripper was visibly working, i could clear a lot of it with a power washer.
The stubborn spots I hit with a green scrub pad. You can get a kit on Amazon that puts those on the end of a powerdrill, that made life much easier.
I don't know about hitting it with sandpaper, as I think it would really gum up the paper very quickly, especially if you have many coats of it.
If i recall correctly, poly-glow is basically the same as mop-n-glow, which is why the floor stripper works.
If it's like my old boat and they applied it properly, the resulting finish after you strip will be pretty dull. Then you have to decide to either re-apply or try to compound and wax back to a shine. My attitude was that I didn't want to remove any more gel coat, so I carefully reapplied. It actually looks pretty nice if you put it on carefully.
