Purpose of 2nd Amendment

Yesterday I overheard two olde comm'l fishers. One onboard, ... 

This was just before I had a really creepy moment. I was driving around Atlantic, NC pop 522 ... churches yes, beer stores no. So I'm cruising around and I get a few side eyes, and I turn the corner and drive past the elementary school ... I can sure see a small community being scared shitless. No cops for 35 miles. Any fucktard can do a lot of damage. It looked all locked up ... with kiddies safe inside but I think ARs can shoot thru windows. 

I don't think hardening schools, whatever that means, is the answer. I think brick and mortar schools will be phased out before guns are.

Tom is not a moron.

He's certainly not a moron but he does seem to have an unwavering belief in his ability and opinions. 

That rigidity always reminds me of religious thinking: uncritical yet unbreachable. 

Yesterday I overheard two olde comm'l fishers. One onboard, the other just yarning about how sick he'd been with the cancer. The other guy mentioned how "blessed" he'd been ... and the sick guy agreed with a "and thanks be to Him" pointing to the heavens.  

Once you turn your life over to Jeebus ... ya don't have to think any longer. It's probably a great relief.

Most likely, that old fisherman also gave thanks for his doctor(s) but this is in fact the Bible Belt, it's possible they didn't give medical science even a fleeting thought.

Oddly enough, before the advent of applying science to medical practice, prayer never cured a single disease. Thank God that dear sweet Jee-e-eezuss gave us science!

It has long been established that all threads are gun threads whenever Tom is present. Will Darcy and Elizebeth ever find true romance? That can only be correctly interpreted by strict construction within the constitutional framework of the #2 Amendment.

Tom and Jeffski were even trolling the #2 Amendment in the Ukraine threads. But when I offered that we replace the #2 Amendment with Ukraine's gun laws, they quickly found some socks that needed darning. Their bullshit is insistent but it's not very deep.

"Dangerous"? By definition a weapon is "dangerous". That's it's sole purpose.

"Unusual"?... WTF is "Unusual"? A Jewish space laser may be unusual, but you can't just carry one around in your pocket.....

 Maybe a hand gun that shoots knives instead of bullets.... I could easily see those being regulated....

sorry .. the assumption was it was a reference to internal conflicts and not the US war of independence .. which was over in 1783 and therefor no relevance to the second amendment that was ratified in 1791 .. ie quite some time after the US made it's own laws

i dont think a field cannon was mounted in many front yards at that time

perhaps they thought guns that were designed only for war would never be attractive to people who wanted a hunting rifle

Seemed like it was in reference to colonial times and the writing of our 2nd amendment, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to know you would jump right to the Civil War when I responded on topic.

By the way, the experience of having the British government confiscate cannons and other weapons belonging to The People was very relevant to why they wrote an amendment attempting to ensure that no such thing could happen again. Probably the single most relevant thing.
