... It is strange that PAer's do not seem to be as concerned about Yemeni lives. Far more, 375,000 so far, have died in that conflict.
Proof that you don't bother to read other peoples' posts. It's been discussed, some.

It's not strange at all that topics on PA follow what's most common in the news. Now, why doesn't the news bring up the Yemeni war? I dunno but I'd guess the Saudis are spending money to keep it down.

What would one be without whataboutism?

Subject is URK-RU
Like we stay on topic, or something

The Mongols killed enough people to affect the climate (noticeably less carbon in the atmosphere from people being too dead to have cooking fires).

Why are you not starting new threads on every individual war that you would like to pontificate about ?

If you haven't noticed this particular thread is about the war in Ukraine.

I'm tempted to take him off ignore so I can tell him to fuck off after every post.

"If you opposed the criminal U.S. attack on Iraq in 2003, then you must oppose this criminal attack on Ukraine. Not just consistency, but a minimal degree of decency and human solidarity requires it. Putin’s war is a blatant violation of international law against an independent country that posed no threat to Russia."
The Bay Area has an actual left wing radio station and they were opposed to the Iraq War back in 2003. So I checked their Ukraine coverage. The Pacifica Evening News coverage of the invasion of Ukraine is pretty much the same as anything you'd hear on PBS NewsHour.

Indeed, I think their coverage was quite good, covering the war, Ukrainians getting turned back at the Mexican border and coverage of Chernobyl. You can listen to the first 20 minutes or so and decide for yourself:

Their very left wing Democracy Now! show features an article @Burning Man could have written.

Daily Kos is virulently pro-Ukraine. I'll make a point of listening to Harrison Chastang on KPOO tonight.

Yeah, there are some lefties who are pro-Russia but it is a minuscule number compared to our rock ribbed Republican elk who would rather be Russian than Democrat.

I'm a Bernie fan, but he was Putin curious before the war. To his credit, he has changed his tune. What did the economist Paul Samuelson say, Well when events change, I change my mind. What do you do?

I love AOC but she reaches for the sort of argument Tom would trot out, the 4A against civil forfeiture. I'm pretty sure that only applies in the US and not on the high seas by other govmints. I hope she sees her way to changing her mind.

You guys are funny, but nothing about Ukraine is funny right now.  It all makes me sad.  I'd like it to end with no more loss of life.  We can make more money, rebuild, but the dead stay dead.

In fairness to AJ, BM said something like the US had been mostly good in the past. That was too over the top for our Leninist who couldn't resist bombasting the CIA stuff in Guat.

Hung by his own petard of "Well, what about ... ?"

Too funny not to save.  You are either a moron of great merit or just one of us.

Someone, not me, asked about Ukr "how many deaths is enough?"

I merely used historical events to respond  ..  and I reserve the right to continue to do that

If you do not like it, well that is just sooooo tough for ya.

That is curious indeed - and as we have seen here and elsewhere, the few who challenge aspects of the war are shouted down even more so than we were in 2003.

I posted an article from Princeton Law's Richard Falk who argues that negotiations are urgent, and that Russia needs an off-ramp. I agree with him.

Some lefties are arguing that, but as you say, not very many.

And as an internationalist I argue that Yemeni lives are just as important as Ukr or US lives.
