R2AK 2022

I wonder if they got a rule interpretation from R2AK before turning around?
I don't really see the fuss.
Obviously they made a mistake, and this want planned in any way. There was no advantage to going the route they did, they have already penalised themselves. The rules weren't written for such a weird route because there is no advantage in using it.

If you read the day 4 update you see that race office is totally book with the route, intact they might even have encouraged it to keep the knife fight closer!

The cool thing to do would be to take the nail out, pose for the photo by the tree, then donate the cash to a good sailing cause. But the cheap steak knives? I would frame that!
I'm guessing that's their plan.

They removed the engine just for this race. (at 55 seconds in this video)

P.S. I have to say that the requirement to remove the engine instead of using some kind of shaft lock/seal is not just inconvenient but a real safety issue if a boat gets into serious trouble and needs the engine. Breaking the seal would disqualify you but that's safer and much less hassle.
I agree.
Basic code of seamanship, plenty of yacht races manage fine.

Simpler for race management too if multiple rescues are required.
Not to mention safety returning to home port

I have an idiot friend who retired early and got talked by some lady in the local pub into taking her on a cruise that leaves soon, from Seattle to Ketchikan and back. They are going to do all the ridiculous crap that I suppose happens, he did mention a helicopter ride. He usually flies up, to remote fishing outposts. But anyway...

The "prize" for my dumbass would be just sailing any part of the R2AK, hopefully completing it but either way. It is God's Country up there.

Your friend can’t be that much of an idiot, if he can retire early, pick up some woman in a bar and take her on a cruise and do ridiculous crap with her?

The fastest in this Race's conditions, by far. Schooled!

Can anyone figure what the biggest historical delta has been, between the plank and the steak knives?

P & W have turned the corner into the home strait. Shouldn’t be long before you can see them on the webcam….

Edit: and there they are in the distance?
