Radial or Crosscut?

In the last 8 months, I got two radial sails.  The jib is North and the main is Sail Technologies, based in St Pete.  Both are well built and of a similar fabric.  The main was built in St Pete, shorter time from order to delivery and was priced better.  The owner of Sail Tech is a competent racer who will steer your right.

My understanding is that cross-cut sails are much easier to re-cut than tri-radial.  So, when the dacron eventually does stretch, a sailmaker can fix a cross-cut sail, whereas in a tri-radial they can only do so much depending on where the problems are.  So, while the tri-radial will last longer before it stretches, it may well be done after that, whereas the cross-cut can be resurrected.
Recutting a Dacron sail does help but just retards the problem for a while, not a long term solution.

Yep. At that stage it’s probably more cost effective to save the recut money & put it towards a new sail in the near future.
