Quite the nice boat. There is a really interesting comment made by the narrator near the end of the vid. He says, "...an incredible vessel for those with the proper wherewithall...," recognizing that because the boat is so light and powerful it is going to take a very experienced, knowledgeable person to run it. Maybe Gunboat needs to set up some training for owners w/o said wherewithall.

'Course it's hard to tell a Captain of Industry that he needs training wheels for a bit.

Either way, if you have the money for purchase but lack the experience to independently skipper a boat as complex and powered up as this is - as I suspect many owners would themselves acknowledge is the case - their insurance company will require a professional skipper/captain as a condition.

Jesus. What's with all the WALLY-ismish square corners! Ugh.

As for the season and the location, I have just one thing to say:

I really dont see what the big deal is. Hindsite is a wonderfull thing and the education god will get paid.

Taking sailboats out in winter in a known violent area with a shitty forecast is not something most would do if given a choice. Owner made a dumb choice and the education god got paid. Perhaps he should of paid with the prudence that comes from proper experience but what the fuck no one died so fuck it and move on. Knocking the manufacturer of high performance boats for dumb owner decisions is bullshit.

Money, yes, but not exclusively. Skill can be a 'that'.
fair enough - very rarely, you may be right - but not in today's usage, and not in the video above. Sorry, and maybe you shouldn't throw insults when you are embarrassed - way too obvious. Better to become a hater and throw nasty comments from a sock puppet account.

Here's some etymology, from here.

Well, what does "wherewith-" mean? Surprisingly, it means "withwhat." Your humble researcher has consulted the online Oxford EnglishDictionary (OED) with which his local public library has so graciouslyprovided him access.Let's take a look at an OED entry for "wherewith" that cites Chaucer's"Canterbury Tales":"c1386 CHAUCER Wife's T. Prol. 131 Wher with sholde he make hispaiement If he ne vsed his sely Instrument?"Here, the "wher with" is an interrogatory meaning "with what." Inother words, Chaucer means, "With what should he make his payment...?"So why isn't it "whatwith-" or "withwhat-"? Beats me. It just isn't. The fact is, though, that even in modern English, "where" does notexclusively have to do with location. It sometimes means "what" or"which." Let's digress for a moment to explore this concept.Consider the following:"A computer is a device whereby Granny makes money."Here the "where-" in "whereby" doesn't really have anything to do withlocation. Sure, Granny might be physically located near the computer, but she doesn't have to be. It could be thousands of miles away. Inthis situation, the "where-" in "whereby" doesn't really mean "where."Rather, it means "which" or "what." We could just as easily say, "Acomputer is a device with which Granny makes money." Or we could turnit around and ask, "With what does Granny make money?"Getting back to wherewith...We've already covered the use of "where with" as an interrogatorymeaning "with what.""Wherewith" also took the form of a conjunction meaning "with which."Take this example from Shakespeare's "Macbeth":"1605 SHAKES. Macb. I. vi. 17 Those honors..Wherewith your Maiestieloades our House."Interestingly, "wherewithout" was also used as a conjunction at onepoint. Not surprisingly, "wherewithout" means the opposite of"wherewith."Consider this OED entry: "1578 Bk. Chr. Prayers Bij, Thou light, wherewithout all things aredeepe darcknesse."In other words, "your light, without which all things are deepdarkness."Finally, and most importantly to this discussion, wherewith took theform of a noun meaning "that with which." OED Examples:"1611 Bible Ps. cxix. 42 So shall I have wherewith to answere him thatreprocheth me."In other words, "So shall I have that with which to answer him..."1788 PRIESTLEY Lect. Hist. V. lviii. 460 They will have wherewith topurchase the produce of other countries. In other words, "They will have that with which to purchase theproduce..."In this sense (a noun meaning "that with which"), "wherewith" is theequivalent of "wherewithal." And in fact the two were usedinterchangeably.OED example:"1742 FIELDING J. Andrews IV. i, When your ladyship's livery wasstript off, he had not wherewithal to buy a coat."And this usage as a noun is the form that has come down to us meaningthe necessary funds or resources. But how exactly did the "-al" ending come into play? Well, that seemsto be due to the fact that "with", "withal", and "withall" weresometimes used interchangeably. OED example:"1600 SHAKES. As You Like It. III. ii. ... tel you who Time ambleswithall, who Time trots withal,."In other words, "... tell you who time ambles with, who time trotswith ..."On the issue of the second "l"... Well, all I can say is thatGranny's instincts are as white-hot as ever. A second "l" was indeed apopular and accepted addition to this venerable word. The OED citessuch usage in several forms:"1611 Bible Matt. vi. 31 Wherewithall shall wee be clothed?""1613 SHAKES. Hen. VIII, I. iii. 59 That Churchman Beares a bounteousminde indeed... His dewes fall euery where... he may, my Lord, H'aswherewithall."

True enough, but wasn't the "Education God" just paid last January, in a very similar high profile and much discussed incident involving a different wave-piercing Hull #1 ?

Nah. Short memories among the VC/investment banking crowd. "Celebrate Failure" by Brian Cohen -- coming to a TED Talk near you. You don't learn from failure; you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, borrow a bunch of money, and wade back into the fray. Resilience trumps (Trumps?) wisdom, etc. You'll notice derivatives trading is quite popular again....

Dayum. How do you crank the winch without hitting that DataPod? I'd bark my knuckles every time. Does it rotate out of the way?

Quite right, sadly. People who can afford to make mistakes seem to make more of them.

I'm as much of a reverse snob as you'll find, and even I find this backwards. You could possibly make it accurate by qualifying with "...when it comes to high-profile yachting" but otherwise, get serious. Or go and visit one of ten thousand trailer parks in middle america some time.
