So sad this news stand is gone now. It was finally closed a few years ago and is no more. I used to stop there almost every day for newspapers and magazines when I was in school. Also, where those cars are stopped at the light is now a T stop (that change was decades ago). No intersection there anymore.

The Michelin Tire company ad campaign was stating:
"Le pneu Michelin boit l'obstacle"
The Michelin tire swallows the obstacle.
The French sentence uses the verb drink (boire), rather than swallow.
In French we call the Michelin mascot "bibendum".
Because the poster first showing it used the latin sentence: Nunc est bibendum.
And now, one must drink...
